This particular memory card is on Viofo's Not Recommended list.
https://support.viofo.com/support...o-dashcam-
Samsung has a program that allows you to verify authenticity of the card. The way amazon handles inventory, fake cards are plenty.

Avcording to specs, samsung can endure much more read/write cycles vs sandisk by severalfold.
It only indicates that it is not recommended for a Viofo dashcam, and there is no explanation or supporting information provided.

This product gets 5 stars from 84% of the 42K reviewers, which I have more faith in than an unsubstantiated comment from a dashcam company.

They do recommend the extreme endurance, so maybe something is wrong with the normal endurance.

For what it's worth, I have a dash cam that's made by a different company and they also do not recommend Sandisk memory cards.

Found this useful Reddit post [reddit.com] while looking at SD cards last week.

SanDisk High Endurance
Hours of FHD Recording TBW Warranty Speed Class
10,000 hours @ 26Mbps 117 TBW* 2-years U3

SanDisk Max Endurance
Hours of FHD Recording TBW Warranty Speed Class
60,000 hours @ 26Mbps 702 TBW* 10-years U3

Samsung Pro Endurance (2018)
Hours of FHD Recording TBW Warranty Speed Class
43,800 hours @ 26Mbps 512.4 TBW* 5-years U1

Samsung Pro Endurance (2022)
Hours of FHD Recording TBW Warranty Speed Class
70,080 hours @ 26Mbps 819.9 TBW* 5-years U3

SanDisk "High Endurance" has much lower endurance than Samsung Pro Endurance. You'd need to get the "Max Endurance" from SanDisk to be comparable to Samsung.

Be sure to verify who the seller is - whether you buy this micro SD card or another one from the compatible list in the link above... I was looking at the SanDisk Endurance 512gb(?) one, and the first offer was from a 3rd party seller. Amazon was maybe 3-5 down from the top... But even with Amazon as the seller, you should want to test your SD cards to be sure they aren't fake

Actually, my understanding is that Amazon combines their inventory with all of the third-party sellersā€¦ So when they pull "shipped and sold by Amazon" you could actually just get any card from any seller, provided. Which means that any seller selling fake cards are getting mixed in with Amazon's legitimate cardsā€¦ And there in lies the problem.

Therefore it is recommended to buy products (that have a high propensity to be fakes) from stores that do not have a marketplaceā€¦ A reputable store like B&H or Bestbuy should only have gotten supplied by manufacture directlyā€¦ Or a reputable distributorā€¦ so they are much safer optionsā€¦ The same is true with things like in a loop batteries that are often counterfeits.

Please be aware that the above is only what I have read, I cannot say for certain if it is true but I have read or heard it from multiple sourcesā€¦ Anyway, take it with a grain of salt

Testing the cards is extra hassle and time wasted. Consumers should not be doing the work that sellers should be doing. It defeats the whole purpose of the transaction in the first place.

That seems like a strange recommendation from them. AFAIK, there are no such cards as "Extreme Endurance." The card they link is just a regular "Extreme" card, which is not a high endurance card. It's a higher performance card (compared to the "Ultra").

They recommend both the Max Endurance and the Extreme, but they use the name "Extreme endurance" for the Extreme. The Max Endurance recommendation makes sense, but I don't understand the recommendation for the Extreme unless they know something we don't. The Extreme is not marketed as a high endurance card. It could be they did some testing and found it to have high endurance, but that would seem really strange if it manages to have higher endurance than the SanDisk High Endurance cards (which are not recommended).

I wonder if the recommendation is more about the speed instead of the longevity?
