Depends on the varient. But yes 5W30 has jumped in price.

So has 0w20, if you can even find it in stock.

lol, 0w-16... to get an extra 0.1% MPG, it is worth it? this is entirely for CAFE requiremnts.

keep in mind the NONE US Camry, like the Austra, that runs the same 2AR-FE engine, recommend 0W-20, 5W-20 5-30W for below 0F environment, and 15W-40 for above 10F environment.

you cannot tell me toyota put 0-W16 with their engine life span in mind, same as "life time" transmission oil.

Yep. Look to Australia to figure out what range of oil you can legitimately use in your cars to get away from the dumb CAFE rules.

fark these greedy ass companies. Ultra platinum has gone from $20-25 for a 5 quart bottle to $50-60.
Really! That's a shame. I had been putting Ultra Platinum in my WRX for a few years, until it seemingly vanished off the face of the planet. Haven't been able to find it anywhere, so I went back to (not Ultra) Platinum.

Just add some gasoline to 5w-30 to make 0w-16. Cleans your motor too.

(Kidding of course, but I agree with others here that 16 weight oil has to be 100% about pumping efficiency / MPG, at the cost of engine protection. That said, most equipment will fail before a maintained motor loses compression or bearings.)

Can I put this is a 2013 Prius that takes 0w20???
Is that the generation that burns oil? The gains by switching from 0W-20 to 16 will be negligible. 20 is also usually cheaper and more readily available.

People said the same thing about 0W-anything (ignorantly) and more recently 0W-20 in large trucks. I haven't personally heard of many failures. If it's designed from the get-go with a lower operating viscosity then I would have zero issues running it. Way back when XW-20 was BACK-spec'd to older applications? That's a big nope from me!

Oil analysis shows that Toyota has about 7x molybdenum and 2x boron compared to Mobil 1. I prefer Toyota OEM 0w-16 and definitely stock up when I can. However, prices have gone up and longer able to purchase cases from parts.toyota.com. I recently purchased 2 cases (12qt) for $81 AC FS from OKPetroleum [okpetroleummarketplace.com]. Highly recommend if you want to stick with TGMO.

I have a 2013 Prius. It does not burn oil.

Excellent! You're doing something right then. I'd keep doing whatever that something is.

Would this be a step down compared to Mobil? I've always used Mobil full synthetic on my Camry. 133k miles no issues.

Couldn't find the rebate but did find this offer for a $20 gift card if you buy two 5 quart bottles. They don't have Amazon listed as a retailer though.

I did this last year and they did not send the gift card. How do I follow up?

This. And Honda is the same way. They recommend one viscosity in Japan and then thinner oils here in the EPA regulated states for the same engine.
Where I live, the temp is about the same as Japan, rarely ever below 32 F with a median of 68
