Lol you don't own this TV. It is superior to all LG OLED in every measurable display performance metric. The one exception is the new G3 may be brighter. And for the DV statements, DV is limited by the panel. An inferior display that can process DV does not result in a superior picture. The omission is frustrating, but completely discounting the display quality based on lack of format support only shows how well marketing successfully exploits ignorance.
Prove they don't own it.

Rtings shows the differences between the two to be minimal. And when the QD-OLED gets the burn-in, LG picture quality is the hand's-down winner.

LG OLED has been the superior display tech since its introduction, for mainstream consumers.

Dolby Vision is the superior HDR tech and is well-supported. Sammy's HDR10+ is the Betamax of HDR. Of my 300+ 4K physical blu-rays, 35% have DV. Only 3% have HDR10+.

From my experience Samsung abandons software, while LG keeps it up to date.
Samsung does not work well with receivers either. Constant frustration.
That said, if you want the tv that just works for years to come, pick LG
I have a Samsung QLED and an LG OLED.

The LG immediately recognized my Sonos.
The Samsung Sonos interface took a lot of effort. I got it eventually, but there are numerous complaints about connecting equipment to the Samsung. My next purchase will be LG.

you gonna wait a long time lol. gave mine away to a friend, had calibrated it to the wazoo, friend could not believe the PQ. And it is still going as well!
I bought a 8k Denon amp at Costco (future maybe who knows) but the 7:1 I can't get the KS to recognize because it's too old, the newer Vizio I have in the basement does even with an older Denon
Interface let's it down, have to unplug it every now and again as it forgets itself but yeah next year when the C3 start to go on sale I'll take what I can get for it and come into this century haha

We own this TV (65 inch S95B) along with a pretty new and premium LG OLED panel.

The software for the S95B is completely unusable. That's true. It's finicky. It's too vibrant for some content. In short, I would take the C2 over the S95B if the primary content was movies for sure, even though the S95B looks way better, the support and incidentals make it a bad choice.

HOWEVER

I have the S95B hooked up to a 4090 pc gaming machine and for that purpose (high end gaming) there is literally nothing that even comes close. It stomps on every other television ever made, and if you're willing to tweak the service menu, which is very easy and doesn't require anything special, it's godlike. I cannot over emphasize how good this TV is for gaming.

This tv creates colors you have never seen before on a screen (literally; the color space is that wide). Things look like they pop off the screen, and motion is buttery smooth. You can also set it to 144hz which means it does 4K native @ 144fps.

I must repeat that if you're primarily watching movies and shows, get something else!

AND IF YOU DO GET IT, GET A BURN IN WARRANTY. I get it's an unfortunate extra cost, but it's necessary. Personally I got the Best Buy 5 year, which was quite expensive.

If you can afford it and are a gamer this is the television of GODS, straight up. I wish I could invite you all to my mancave to experience the panel because there's absolutely no way you can appreciate how incredible it is until you see it firsthand gaming on a 4090 at maxed resolution/fps.

I spare no expense for gaming and always buy the best, so I know what a good panel is. And this panel has no competition for gaming. Nothing is even close.

I agree, I own the C2 and color is not as vibrant as s95B.i original bought OLED S95b first. Return due to 2k price and black not as good. C2 color isn't even close unless you viewing 4k HDR content with different 2020 color profile. Regular color profile 709 on 1080p C2 is not good. My TCL75 R655 color is way better since it's a miniQled with quantum dot technology. Haven't check out the G3 but I'm sure your 💯 correct.
Because Samsung oversaturates colors, especially greens. Watch some football. I've never seen a field that lime green in real life.

For whatever reason, Samsung still doesn't support Dolby Vision choosing instead to go with HDR10+. Personally, I'm not happy with that either as I prefer Xbox to Playstation but seeing how the LG G3 was crushing blacks and looked horrible using Dolby Vision, I wouldn't let that be a determining factor. Rumor has it that LG is likely going to release a firmware update to fix Dolby Vision but I haven't seen anything official from them on it as of yet. On the flip side, by the end of the summer, we should see the new Sony OLEDs hit the market and those will use the QD OLED technology and will have Dolby Vision with it. The downside of course is you will be paying the Sony tax as Sony TVs are normally priced 15% higher than their competitors.

As far as power issues go, I wasn't aware Samsung had any. I know LG has had quite a few in their history. The C1 from what I remember was bad with them and I want to say there were a few other models with power supply issues as well. I doubt the G3 will have the same issues as the MLA panel causes the tv to use less power than the previous generation.
Dolby Vision is not an open format like HDR10+ is, if anything that needs to be the standard formate simply because it's *Free.

Amazon Prime, AppleTV and Hulu support and use HDR10+ so tvs can take great advantage of HDR.

Netflix, HBO Max and several others don't and do use Dolby Vision or just standard HDR. Of course Dolby Vision or HDR10+ always looks better, so it really depends on what you're watching.

S95B is a QD-Oled so it's definitely a much more capable tv in several areas. At this price and in the market for an Oled, I would definitely recommend.

Your completely forgetting the absolutely awful build quality and some of the worst burn in by a modern TV

These OLEDs are dropping a lot faster than past few years. I wouldn't be shocked if the Sony A95K can be had for 1500 soon. I probably won't resist the C2 at 1100 or S95B at 1000 though.

Well i myself did own this tv and it's just typical Samsung, oversaturated, over brightened look, sure it gets bight but cannot sustain that compared to A95K, motion does not hold up to LG or Sony, upscaling and processing of low bitrate still does not compare to LG and Sony even after multiple updates. All SDR is zoomed in making the picture worse, improper auto Color Space switching which STILL exists on the 2023 models. Calibrating this thing is a nightmare, so much so that some users release picture settings monthly trying to nail the PQ down.

It does measure better in many areas versus LGs Oled but the overall experience is not, the G2 was the better pick over this imo, a much better engineered product. If you play video games all day then yea majority of tvs will work for that, but for other uses Samsungs engineers have work to do, they are pros at making benchmarks look good but not much else.

Also, you are correct that the quality of the panel can make or break DV but proper processing of DV is just as important, and judging by Samsungs track record, even if they did get the licensing, the implementation probably wouldn't be good at all and would probably have to be fixed by pro calibrators.

Perhaps with some years to mature the Samsung QD Oled will catch up in the areas that it falters in. I sold mine and kept my A80J, now looking towards to A95L and G3.

I didn't buy this tv for the software. I use my AppleTV 4K for everything. I've historically always bought Samsung and I've been fortunate that they have treated me well. Hoping for the same love from this TV.

I made the switch from the ks8000 to a c2 6 months ago. It was a life changing decision. I couldn't stand watching the ks8000 anymore and i am so glad I made the switch. just do it, not necessarily this tv, but any OLED (pro tip: go bigger if you have the room).
In a bright room and at a not too extreme viewing angle I've had people confuse the KS8000 I still have for an OLED. Under certain conditions it still pumps out an extremely nice image. But - that is also my beef with it, in a dark room and at angles it quickly starts showing cracks. Still one of the best TV purchases I've made. Especially at the employee pricing so many of us got in on at the time. And it just keeps going.

BTW this thread shows me people will find a way to fanboy over everything. We re taking sides in a LG v Samsung debate now?

As a current owner of a Samsung TV, I will never purchase another TV from them. Their Tyzen OS is so terrible. Slow, apps crash, and oh yea: they inject ads into it including specific applications that are not removable. Yes, I know you an do port forwarding or domain blocking to get around that but that is not something that should need to be done on an item I own. My next TV will be an LG OLED.
