Purchased this fridge from Lowe's last week for $1899 and the very next day it dropped to $1594 so had Lowe's price match with no issues. I thought the window in the door would be gimmicky but I use it more than I thought I would. This is a counter depth fridge but feels like a standard depth with the storage space. The app for the fridge tracks the air and water filter life, electricity consumption, and the number of times the fridge/freezer door is opened, temperature setting, and energy saver. Refrigerator is very quiet, loudest thing is the ice maker. I've heard the horror stories about LG compressors but I've read that issue should be resolved by now plus this has a 10 year warranty on the compressor.

I've been tracking this model fridge but without the insta view glass door. Unfortunately, this one is $500 less than the basic model with normal doors I was tracking. Sigh

Every fridge post tends to devolve into complaints. Is there any consensus on best model for a French door fridge with ice maker?

I have the normal Stainless Steel version of this fridge for about a year and I like it. It's quiet and shallow if you need counter depth. https://www.geappliances.com/appl...GWE19JYLFS

The water being inside lets the doors be not super thick sticking out into the walkway of my kitchen. The ice maker makes ice well, but the design could be a little better, the ice spills some out into the freezer area when it's too full. I don't think that's a big deal though.

I got this from Costco for $1499 last month. Will probably get to that price again soon.

I'm going on year 16 of our LG french door fridge. I guess any fridge will fail at some point, so your argument still holds.
We bought ours 14 years ago. Had to replace the water dispenser pump ($50 part) at one point, but otherwise it's been a great unit. I see a lot of hate for LG appliances, but I have an LG fridge and dishwasher - both have needed minor repairs over the years but nothing that I'd regard as a "lemon appliance" deal. If we were in the market for a new fridge, I'd snatch up this deal in a heartbeat!

Ditto. Bought in 2007, still going strong. It wasn't without problems earlier on, but they all got fixed (under original mfg. warranty) and it's been problem free ever since.

This. Only 2 inches less than the Costco LG posted. And 32 does not include handles.

I would think Costco is the better deal. It has an icemaker as well as comes with an extra fridge.

What a strange feature, what I find most strange is that it specifically only allows you to see inside that one door. Like do you go and organize your fridge specifically putting the type of stuff you want to "see from the outside" on the right? Or do you just knock and hope to see what you want if it happens to be on the right? Or do you just ask yourself why you got roped into buying a gimmicky fridge?
I have a similar style fridge from LG and I like the window feature because we put all our drinks/juices/ milk in there which means no need to hold the fridge door open to decide on what you want to drink, and if you want to grab the milk or juice real quick you don't need to open the entire fridge. Just a small panel. Maybe more efficient in the long run since the more you open the fridge the more electricity it uses? Idk just hypothesizing. But the feature is nice for people that would take advantage.

Since Costco stopped the extended warranty for their Visa card, I'd suggest looking into the consumer reports site. I have all LG appliances and have had issues on the fridge and washing machine, which they came out to fix at no cost.

The fridge compressor is a widely known issue with LG so they just fix them for free. The washing machine was all my fault.. washing the outdoor sofa cushions ripped apart the inner gasket of my front loader. Also my 75" LG tv was a hell of a bargain. I'd still recommended LG, bc unlike Samsung they don't give u the run around.

Yes, 10 yrs on the linear compressor, parts and labor for the first 5, parts only yrs 6-10. The coils and the rest of the sealed system often failed with the compressor and have been replaced--they only have a 5 yr warranty. LG is still replacing many compressors; there is a new part# and new firmware for some models.

If you follow the advice here you'll never buy a refrigerator. Everyone hates every brand except for the one they bought 35 years ago which is still running.
My Kenmore 26 cu ft. is from 1995. The thermostat failed 3 years ago. Bought new thermostat for $10 and replaced it, and it is still running strong.

Interesting, I couldn't tell at all from the pics, video, or description that there was specifically a separate small section behind this glass, it just looked like it was the regular right hand door for the fridge. That honestly makes a big difference!
