Note that the PSU is 400W

That's fine for what it is now but it will limit future upgrades

I am absolutely floored this system is SHIPPED by Microcenter. Almost all of Microcenter's deals are in-store only.

With that in mind... There are 4 DIMM slots, here is the manual [lenovo.com] along with the Product Page. [lenovo.com]

Seems like a decent deal.

Just upgrade the video card instead, can sell the 1660 for $150 on Ebay.

The MSRP ($1500) is ridiculous, isn't it?

I bought very close to this system at Best Buy and swapped the psu for a 700w and got a 3080ti locally for $450. Also swapped 2x16gb ram. It's really good for a prebuilt with reasonable temperatures. Lenovo uses quality mid range components.

The big annoyance is the locked bios. No resizeable bar. Still it's a powerful build with decent cooling for under $1200 with the swapped parts.
When you swapped the PSU what was the process like with the cables? Did you just swap the PSU block and re use all the existing cables or did you swap out all the power cables as well (the ones that came with the new PSU)?

Thanks. Thinking about doing the exact same thing.

Does s/he play Roblox all the time like my 9yo? If so, this is more than fine.
I meant my desktop is 9 years old lol

Would this PC be good for a kid to play Roblox, Minecraft and soon I'm sure, Fortnite? I've been looking at getting my son a PC or Laptop because school homework is all computer based these days and he also enjoys playing the previously mentioned games with friends.

This would be plenty for your needs.

The main difference in a regular desktop vs a gaming PC is the video card. Most retailers classify it as a gaming PC if it has a dedicated/separate GPU, which is the "RTX 3050" here.

You don't need that if you have no intention of gaming, but it won't hurt you in the slightest to have it. You might be able to get a computer with more RAM and more hard drive space for the same price or cheaper if you skip out of the GPU is all.

This or the Costco HP victus with 32gb ram and 6600xt?
I went with the Victus. Microcenter has the same (or very similar) REFURB Victus in-store for $699. I went with that to save $15 shipping and $60 for a costco membership.

And now that I'm looking... they dropped the price to $649. https://www.microcenter.com/produ...furbished)

Hopefully I can get $50 credit.

I hate seeing these Micro Center deals because there isn't one nearby so I can never take advantage of them. I wish Best Buy did these kinds of deals. Their computer sales are never really that great.

Is there 2 HDMI ports? I bought this and I only see one in the GPU. There is supposed to be on connected to the motherboard right?

I believe you need a usbc to hdmi converter or cable to use the onboard not sure what the res limit is but hoping it can be 4k@60 via onboard with the right cable.

I agree it is kind of dumb not having a standard HDMI out on motherboards that support processors with onboard graphic chipsets.

why? Even RTX 4070 only draws 220W at maximum…..this R7 non X CPU will draw 80-90W max, so pretty sure 400W is even enough for 4060 lol. Don't be fooled by the PSU maker or shitty marketing strategy
