In US most of wiring is 15-20amp. 12 outlets pretty much guarantees that someone out there will plug in their PC, heater, toaster, and microwave into this thing all at the same time. I'm sure somewhere there's a fine print that's says don't plug in more than 15a worth of stuff or were not liable, but who reads this stuff. Hope their breakers are solid, or the wiring in the walls can get nice and toasty.

Does this mean that the product itself is not a fire hazard, but the 12-outlet concept is; I think a number of people may misinterpret your statement to be specific to THIS make/model/product, and may end up buying the same fire hazard, just a different brand, if so. Case in point, I bought this (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000J2EN4S) on another SlickDeal some 5 years ago, never thinking about breaker/wire load.

Also, TU for the explanation - thanks!

Yes, you're right. If breakers have gone bad, which they sometimes do, but rarely, then even plugging in a toaster and a vacuum cleaner on same circuit can cause wires to melt… but only if they are the 16 gauge type wires. 12 or 14 gauge wires that are typically used in wall would handle the heat.

If you have an old house then you have a reason to be concerned, in newer homes it's less of a concern

Should you replace a power strip every so often? Feel like I could buy this to replace one that's over 5 years old supporting my TV, PS5, and other smaller electronics.
