Wow, this is tempting! Especially being a fishing deal lol. Any info on kids? I seriously doubt I'll be buying this (my wife will roll her eyes) but just more curious than anything - seems like it might be a potential 'upgrade' price if we wanted to bring our 7yr old and 6yr old.

Cursory glance on airfares from LAX (and SNA in my case) is $300-400~ range roundtrip for the lowest cost and 5-8hr flight time depending on whether it's LAX or SNA.

As far as fish processing and shipping costs, per Google, it seems like you may expect to pay anywhere from $9-12/lb, so definitely something to keep in mind. If you catch that 375lb halibut of a lifetime, it may cost nearly as much as the cost of this deal to have the fish processed and shipped back to you Smilie

i looked at peak summer airfares and got $299 rt nonstop from seattle so whatever you found is pretty decent.

I was literally just Googling - the pricing could be higher. I figure even if you DIY the connection, flying from LAX or SNA to SeaTac probably isn't too crazy.

I can't imagine paying more than $2/lb for processing (including packaging and freezing). You can then get 50lb fish boxes, pack them and duct tape them up and check them as luggage for your flight.

Sounds complicated to some but it's not bad. Especially up there because it's incredibly common.

Are there 'local' processors up that way who charge $2/lb or less for processing, packing and freezing? That's right around the current cost of the SoCal processors (well, they might be a little less but they're also crazy backlogged).

Also, do most airlines limit you as far as how many of those boxes you can check-in? Or do they charge extra $$ per box? How many boxes do most people check-in anyway after trips like this? A few?
