I switched from Chase a while back. It's still a little strange to get monthly interest payments after so long with Chase's 0.000000001%
I just keep everything in savings for the higher interest rate. They have a setting called overdraft protection where they just move money automatically from your savings if there is not enough in your checking to cover an expense.
Why don't they make it a full month to get 2 direct deposits instead of '25 day evaluation period' seems gimmicky and a way to make it harder to qualify for employer's direct deposits to hit in time.
That's exactly why they don't make it a month.
I've found a good rule of thumb whenever looking at a bank giving out bonuses is to skip the marketing wank and go straight to the full terms and conditions to see how they're going try to weasel out, and what you need to do if you want to stop them.

Terms say Received… so we can transfer and don't have to maintain the balance? Easier for me to transfer to my other bank since autopay is all setup there
Switched to SoFi as my primary a few months back. Experience has been great so far and easily surpasses other banks I have accounts with. I wish they would support small business accounts and the ability to have an individual and JT account simultaneously. Would move more $$$ in that case but I'm guessing they'll get there eventually. Rewards points are a good bonus as well.

I have sofi credit, checking and savings, been using this from an year, its all good for me,their 2% cashback on credit,i always buy stocks for that 2% cb
You can buy stocks crypto everything at one point.
Went to SoFi from BoA. Can never look back at these big brick & mortar banks giving you nothing. Literally paying bills w the interest in SoFi savings.
I've done this in the past, but if I can transfer money from my Robinhood to my sofi account, will that count towards the direct deposit? It worked for capital one and I got the $400 sign up bonus they had
SoFi is TERRIBLE - avoid them like the plague. Bot customer service, arbitrary changes to your transfers (reversed endpoints), spammy and paranoid security measures only when it benefits them to hold onto your money. They're gaming the system of transfers and security lock-outs to maximize profits in the aggregate, holding onto your money as long as possible. Just another fintech that deserves to bite the dust like Silicon Valley Bank.
Totally opposite of my experience with SoFi. I fixed issues directly talking with representatives. I can trasfer money much faster than any other banks such as TD, Chase, WF. Are you sure you are talking about Sofi?
Yes, definitely. You lucked out. They're a cheating fintech, and their time will come...
I spent a night without having a home thanks to SoFi's inability to conduct a wire transfer for a mortgage, despite having a week's heads up.
I've been slowly removing all my investments in USD out since then.
Additionally, their savings account does not have the 6 transactions/month limit that a lot of places still keep (even though that's no longer a federal rule). So you can actually just pay everything from your savings if you wanted.
I have a Sofi account that i opened in sept and have had no complaints since. Rates are the extreme highest but are always very competitive and get raised automatically. I do have a UFB account that I opened back when rates were 5% and I split money between the two banks. UFB is super slow with a higher rate while sofi is a little lower but the experience has been much smoother tbh.
You can also set up overdraft protection that will automatically take from your saving if something goes over on your checking
I have been with SoFi for some time now. Great experience, amazing rate, has most features I need. I still have Bofa account as back up for scenarios like Zelle. Other than that I love the experience. Love how I can link other accounts and see my consolidated spending categorization etc..
also, they offer from time to time bonuses for balances as well. Have their Credit Card and Invest/Crypto account as well.

Bit unrelated but I recently lost my SoFi credit card, so I froze it & requested a replacement card.. and SoFi proceeded to open up a NEW credit line & account.
The "support" team has zero idea why this happened and I've been waiting for a response from a supervisor for a week.
In my opinion, unless you plan on churning bonuses from SoFi it's really not worth the potential headaches dealing with them.
