Buyer Beware this 256gb S23 Ultra Model only has 8gb Ram while the 512gb and 1tb versions have 12gb ram.

Looking at the amazon answer on the S23.....

"Although there are minor differences in terms of language and band support, there is one difference that many people may have overlooked. Unlike previous flagship models, the US version of the Galaxy S23 will NOT work with international SIM cards and eSIMs, despite having the bands capable to do so. This is because Samsung appears to impose a HARD region lock on US flagships released in 2023 and later. Even after making voice calls for at least five minutes, the US version won't allow foreign SIM cards to be used, although the international model will. "

Seriously, having a sim card but HARD LOCK to US carrier only for unlock phone selling $1k?
So, how can this called UNLOCK??

8gb are more than enough. 99% users won't notice the difference
If you've "upgraded" from a Note 20 Ultra to S21/S22 Ultra, you notice the difference. There's noticeable difference in 8gb and 12gb.

Most users won't notice the difference in the first year. But if there's any consideration in keeping the phone for more than say 9 months, get the 512gb. Heck, just get the 512gb/12gb and be happy.

I upgraded to the S23 Ultra 512GB from the Galaxy Note 10+, and it was well worth the upgrade. Good deal!
Still feeling the pain of not jumping on that deal. It was indeed a great deal. Hoping they bring it back on Black Friday if not sooner.

I know that's right. I wasn't really interested in getting a new phone, but I knew I wouldn't be able to sell my Galaxy Note 10+ locally for $1000 so I decided to bite. If my wife didn't need a new phone, I'd probably still be using my Note 10+.

The S23 Ultra is like their highest selling flagship phone ever, sales are up like 70% Vs. the S22's [androidpolice.com]. That's why they didn't run any of the crazy trade in deals. Ain't nobody bleeding anything, plenty of people still got plenty of money. I audibly laugh every time one of the talking heads makes another promise of the impending great depression/recession for the 300th time over the last 3 years. Most people are loaded and still making bank from Covidflation wage hikes.
Except companies earnings and layoffs are substantiating those claims.

Heres an example: https://www.cnbc.com/2023/02/02/a...-2023.html

If the trend of quarterly reports showcasing decline in overall profitability, including each market sector, and division of each parent company, especially Samsung continues into Q3Y23 and Q4Y23, we should hopefully see pricing continue to fall, and if we're lucky, some BOGO deals to be had through subsidized offerings.

Samsung's next quarter is shaping up to be even worse than Samsung's last quarter, which was already at an eight-year low. The company warned investors today that it's a shocking 95.8 percent year-over-year drop in operating profit for Q1 2023. If that expectation holds, this will be the company's worst quarter since 2009, which dates back to the company's pre-smartphone era.
While this is through their chip division, it still has rippling effects on their other divisions. You already see the price drops in NAND prices affecting RAM and SSD and other products that utilize these chips in their builds. This includes the RAM and Storage found in Samsung phones. If the trend continues, there will be some beneficial gains for consumers in 2HY23.

I'm holding on to my Galaxy Note 10+, some Note 20U refurbished offers nearly had me, but I'm waiting around. May even wait until S24U is out with a satellite chip included in the SoC, and if the profitability trend continues into 1HY24, you can expect the previous generation to have even deeper discounts and inventory clearance. Remember Samsung's chip division has already slowed chip production down due to high supply and low demand from low sales of products utilizing those chips, in order to offset the market driven drop in prices in those respective sectors. Hang tight guys.

Yup I'm waiting until July as well.
All consumer companies are bleeding, even Apple, that's why you see all the NEW Apple Watches and iPhone 11 & 12 going on sale.

They got greedy and increased prices to insane levels by going above the 1k mark. Remember when you could get a maxed out iPhone or Samsung's Galaxy for less than 1k?
I'm waiting as well. The thing is, the S23 series reviewed really well compared to the power hungry Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (made by Samsung) in the S22 series. There were so many deals for the S22 last year that at one point, it was literally free upgrade for S21 users.
Here's hoping that deals like those coming back again later this year

Still holding on to my Galaxy S10+. I was always waiting for a new version to come out with an SD Card slot, but I think I can stop wishing for that since it looks like it's never going to happen.
I'll have to get rid of it eventually even though it's working fine since it'll stop receiving updates soon.

Its hard to say how well the promotions will go. I don't want the 256GB because its a throttle of 8gb of ram which is joke. I went with the Samsung deal where I traded my phone, got the double memory free upgrade, corporate discount, credit cash cashback, and 12% cashback (it just ended).

I by no means got the same S22 Ultra deal, but as of now I think its the best deal (the current Samsung website one). If I crunch the #'s right I might pay for the upgrade basically $500 (maybe even less like $440 if my credit card applies that extra promotion off).

I am a huge phone user I don't mind paying for high end phones since I use it a lot. So to me a high end phone is big, but at the same time I don't want to over pay.

Some of that increased sales of S23 is attributed to international territories finally getting Snapdragon chip instead of Exynos.
I wonder if US sales of S23 models are up or down compared to S22 ones.

The sales of S23 series in the US are definitely down because of the shitty trade-in offer. Otherwise, there would have been a lot of media reports about Samsung's new flagship phone sales skyrocketing.

Traded in my 22 Ultra ( the SOT was driving me crazy .. I use the phone ALOT ) .. Got the 23 Ultra Lime Green 512 for $375 .. Samsung had ( probably still has a special promotion on the 512 lime green color ) plus I had some store credit (~$90 and points )

Got the device today and so far so good!
