Don't get this if you have induction, the magnetic field causes the thermopop to reset and bug out. You have to lift the pan away to get temp.

As a long time slickdealer I'd say no. Deals are no longer slick if you buy crap you don't need. Buuuut, you could always pick one up and save it for a gift.

Looks like there's a thermo pop 2 with bigger self-rotating screen. Wonder if any of the other internals are different. Already have one of these but my battery cover broke and not sure if worth replacing now.

Agreed the DOT alarm is the product to get it seems. You set the target temp and just listen for it and it can sit in the grill up to 700 F so you never have to crack the top open to check temps.

Very durable, great support from Thermoworks, very quick temp, won't die if it gets a little wet like the $5 walmart therm. very much worth it. i just graduated to a thermapen, but this is still in the drawer for my kids to use when they cook.
