Don't get this if you have induction, the magnetic field causes the thermopop to reset and bug out. You have to lift the pan away to get temp.
$3 shipping plus tax.
As a long time slickdealer I'd say no. Deals are no longer slick if you buy crap you don't need. Buuuut, you could always pick one up and save it for a gift.

These are awesome - I love the rotating screen. I got a ThermaPen one during the last big sale (either Black Friday or Christmas sales) so I've been using that a lot more lately. I picked up a Signals for myself and more of these Thermopops for my brothers and parents for Christmas gifts. I had previously purchased a Billows before all this too. Just smoked a 15lb brisket over the weekend on the Kamado Joe Classic and it turned out awesome. Thermoworks products rock!

Done Thx.
Grabbed the Smoke BBQ with a probe extension, too. That's got to be close to the cheapest it has ever been?

Just wondering what's so special about these when compared to your typical $5 instant read on Amazon? I'm truly clueless about these. Or just what the editor notes say in this thread?
They are made by a reputable company that has a history of making good products. They even take extra care when shipping their products. Accuracy and speed is really important when it comes to things like this since you don't want a $100 rib roast to overcook or even waste your time and efforts while cooking a $5 chicken. These are known as being fairly accurate, consistent and fast. You really want a reliable one. It isn't like buying a spatula, where any cheapo one will do the same of scrapping down the bowl. My thermopop has lasted also over 6 years and I have never questioned it's accuracy. This is one of those things you don't cheapen out on and you will save money in the long run by not over or undercooking meals that cannot be fixed. I have been to countless holiday meals where someone is using a unreliable thermometer and is giving iffy readings, so it gets over cooked.

Crazy price. Already have 2 ... do I need 3?
I'm gonna buy one to leave in the car. You'd never know when you'd be going to a winter cabin for a Christmas retreat and your host prepped a prime rib roast, but she forgot to pack her thermometer.

I picked this up a few years ago and it has been fantastic. I almost went for the more expensive one that is always recommended and has an almost instant read - but I am glad I saved the $40 bucks or whatever for this one, as the extra second or whatever it takes to read is perfectly fine for me as a home cook. Highly recommend and I might pick up another.

edit: when I added it to cart, it offered a DOT for $27...I already have one of those, too, and it is awesome. If you get that offer and do not have one I HIGHLY recommend adding that, too.

I have difficulty justifying paying even the BF price of $75 over this for $13.

Do you use the thermapen more because of the speed or the accuracy over the thermopop?

The dot alarm is also on sale for $27. I actually use that more than my instant read.
I'm seeing $45 on the site and in cart, can you link us to it?

Edit: saw @buck4225's post and see that it is discounted via pop up only. I decided to pass though, as I need to hurry up and finish my heater meter project instead. Thanks for posting!

Yea, I think the accuracy and speed are not that far off with the Thermopop - I feel like at $13, you might as well just buy 2-3 of these and call it a day haha. The Thermapen One does feel more durable, and it's nice not having to worry about losing/misplacing/breaking a probe cover (like the one on the Thermopop)

I will try this to monitor reaction temperature for especially cold baths (except dry ice-acetone). -50 to 300 C is a great range for various chemical reactions.

Fabulous deal, for a fabulous thermometer. Throw away that last junky SD thermometer you got, this is better.

Can you share where the Dot is $27 or what the code is? I've been waiting for my old thermometer to die before I order it, but at that price I'd probably just grab it.
