just compare the passmark of the 8th-gen and the 12th-gen, more than double

perhaps the difference is the dell latitude is a business computer, mil spec rated and the rest are consumer lighter duty? my latitude originally was 1300 bucks but refurbed for pennies and half off. time will tell what is the better deal.

I was going to get one, but the site uses a different login from Dell.com.
Why can't they be connected?

Which one of those were touch screen or business class laptop?

"This Honda Civic is a better deal (at 50% more) because of the MPG!"...doesn't realize he is comparing it to a 1-ton pickup so s/he excludes lots of specs that others might find important.

Neither are touchscreen though, unfortunately :/
Notice they always leave out the important stuff?

Its like they only care about being right, just don't care if they actually are right. Just the superficial appearance of being right to other people who clearly do not understand the topic.

Exactly my point, "the passmark is higher" is only 9% of the story.

My wife and I have used enough Latitudes from work, do not fare any better than HP or Lenovo for family use. They are bloatly priced in the first place.

for me it is about Durability.

what good is 9% when you bought a Brick? so far Latitudes seem to work; i like running my stuff a Long Time. one year is not a long time.

what kind of HP are you talking about? is this business class or wally world?

bloat price? that is why to buy Refurbished Condition A and 50% off the refurb price. meh, close to Free in price.

so far this is working for me.

If touch is a feature everyone needs, then leaving out is a problem. But if only a small portion wanna pay a premium on it, then what's a big deal?

The other thing is like I commented in a previous desktop deal, the used dell machines keep dropping in price. A 6th-gen is $160 a few months ago now $160 can get you a 8th-gen. If you do not need right now, these sure will go down $200 in a few months.

Hard disagree. I've used multiple Dell and HPs, both for work and personal use, and I've always found Dell to be much more durable. My home laptop (I'm not a very resource intensive user, mostly just email and web with minor audio editing) is Dell refurb I got 5 years ago and it's still humming along well. My 1 year old HP at work is already starting to suck.

Most my HPs and Lenovos are home-grade, I don't see a reliability issue against Latitudes we have used - or I can say we have more small issues with Latitudes than the HP/Lenovo. I like the Dell optiplex, quite solid. Laptops, not so much.

Pricewise, I just do not understand why employers wanna pay so much on Dell machines. Warranty is good for sure, but paying almost double for warranty, come on. As for these refurbished, you think $450+ is fair priced? Then why do 50% off?
