Since last 2 digits start with 2, its a Zen 2 CPU despite it being "7 series". Since then we have had Zen 3, Zen 3+ and Zen 4 CPUs. So dont buy this crap. At this point you should get at least Zen 3+ based products.

AMD got back into customer consciousness after a long time and then they started these cheap tactics. A common joe would see this as 7th Gen R7 and would expect it to be better than previous gens. This is pure deception. I accidentally came across it during a NotebookCheck article where they explicitly called out some 7th gens CPUs for this crap.
This sh*t has to stop

Not sure what people are complaining about. If you care enough about this you should know the '2' in 7520 means zen 2. In that sense it is more transparent than before, where you would have no way to know just by looking at the numbers.

I mean, sure it is probably best if they remove the '7' in front - but you know, they want to leave the option that if you want to pay for that '7', you still can.

It's a pretty decent CPU and far from being an issue to the average consumer, but it's actually weaker than the one it replaced, the Ryzen 5500U (also a Zen 2 part).

It has 2 less cores, 4 less threads, 128 KB smaller L1 cache, 1 MB smaller L2 cache, half the L3 cache (4 MB vs 8 MB).

It has a higher base clock (2.8 GHz vs. 2.1 GHz), though, and a higher turbo clock (4.3 GHz vs. 4.0 GHz), but still a downgrade in my opinion. Synthetic benchmarks show a nearly 26% performance drop.
