This was my primary car camping tent last season (12 trips) and I have to disagree and say it is surprisingly well-made.

I got this the last time it was on Slickdeals for $79. It's an absolute steal at that price:

Likes:

Dark Rest actually works, not a gimmick. Nice if you want to sleep in past sunrise.
Very easy to put up and take down as 1 person.
2 people + 3 dogs + two 17gal HDX totes for gear fit comfortably.
Good storage options inside the tent for electronics/accessories.
Tall enough I can almost stand straight up in at 5'10".

Dislikes:

The tent poles that allow it to be "instant" are large diameter and do not come apart from the tent body, meaning the tent does not pack down. You will struggle to transport this tent in a sedan.
Partial rain-fly.
No vestibules.

Misc:

I bought two of the 9x12 medium duty Ozark Trail tarp one to use as a ground mat for this and it has worked well with a bit of excess that I use as a welcome mat at the front of the tent. The other is to use for cover should a heavy downpour occur and it's been fine.

I've since purchased The North Face Wawona 6 which I also got on Slickdeals when it was $230. Honestly at nearly 3x the price it's not 3x the tent of the Ozark Trail. It has a better rain fly and a large vestibule as a luxury, but it's very difficult to put up or take down alone. It's also much larger inside and I've noticed that leads to colder nights.

This is a wonderful option for car camping that covers most people's needs. If you need more than this you know who you are and aren't going to be shopping in this class of tent.

These are junk tents. Spent a little extra and get something well made.
Love it when camping elitists crap on less expensive gear. Been camping all my life with 12 years as a Boy Scout leader. Always chuckled when dad's would bring all this expensive gear and then get mad when it would crap out on the trail.

Good luck! If they have them, can you report back on the in-store price? I would much appreciate that!

What do you bring camping with you?

We have this, $79 deal last time. We put an inflatable queen mattress and a pack-n-play for a 2 year old with plenty of room to spare for gear.

On what planet is this a 2 person tent?

They are $120 on Costco's website right now. Thinking about heading there tomorrow and checking out the in-store price.

I snagged the 11 person Ozark Trail instant tent deal for $75 a few weeks ago, but thinking about returning that and getting the Core 6 Instant from Costco since we only need it for 2 adults and 1 kid.

Sounds like the Core is much better quality and it would be nice to have Costco's return policy for it.
FYI I have camped with many Ozark tents over the years, as well as Coleman. Got a Core in 21 and let me tell you I would not be surprised if it was manufactured by the same manufacturer in China that makes Ozark and Coleman. The quality is basically the same. I would not pay much more for the core.
.
I also got that $75 Ozark and it is to replace the core that technically still works but has a few issues and I don't want to get caught on a trip and it breaking.
.
I have had 2 Coleman instant tents, one other Ozark instant tent, and the core instant tent. And now this new Ozark which I set up the other day to try it out before our upcoming trip. Due to the "spare room" it is a bit harder to set up and need quite a bigger footprint, but for $75 I am keeping it. The equivalent Core is $239 in store vs $250 online. Although, this one is on sale (I don't believe this one is carried in store though) and looks interesting 🤔

I bought this last time it was $79, I have to disagree. Take your time and set it up properly, take care of it properly and its a great tent for me, my wife, daughter and golden retriever.

Great find 👌 I've been waiting on the core instant 6 to go on sale but might pull on this one 🧐
The Core is a lot higher quality. We returned the Ozark- the one we had had poor stitching and the zipper didn't work well on the door.

At some point in time the instant went for 99 but that was a while back I'll definitely bite on the instant 6 core if it gets down to 135 quick note it's just for me and my lady with a queen inflatable mattress right now we have the ozark 4 person and it barely fits 2 persons
There's a general rule for all tents:

Advertised capacity x .5 = actual capacity laugh out loud

I'm looking to move from a 4 to a 6. 4 and 2 dogs was ok. But I feel like a tiny bit more space would be better. Thoughts? Both dogs are around 50 pounds.

edit: sorry there are just 2 of us with 2 dogs.
I have this and use it with my partner and 2 large dogs. Plenty of space. The dark stuff isn't just a gimmick either. With the windows shut this thing is legit dark during daylight.

I have this tent and it's been good (although I haven't tested it in rain). If you have multiple people and plenty of space in your car, the 11 person one for $75 might have been a better choice though.

I agree. I have it and have really enjoyed using it. While other campers are fussing with broken bungee poles, I'm sipping a cold one, because I got my tent set up 10 minutes ago.

I will say its biggest weakness is the center portion of the tarp, where everything collapses. It is a major wear point, and could potentially wear through the tarp. Be sure to only set it up on grass, and you'll be fine. Rocks and gravel...no beuno. Use another tarp underneath to protect the tent.

I like sleeping the dark tents are great.. but you arent going in that at noon. The black makes it into a cooker. You know what I found out recently. Just get one of these sleep masks and get used to wearing those. Lights wont bother you anymore. Hell you could go to sleep in your bedroom and leave the lights on if you wanted. This tent is nice..
If you are in sun midday.. it will be hot unless you open all the windows.

you could fit a family of 4 in this. I went and bought a large duffle bag and put the poles in the bag that come with the tent and then put all the rest loose in the big canvas duffle.

Best tent Ive ever owned.

My wife just bought a camper back in september. Ill never go back to a tent (not having to unpack a car with all your gear is awesome. However I did tent camping and hammock camping for the first 50 years of my life.

This tent I HIGHLY recommend.. some tents are just WAY too big. This is about damn perfect (for 2-3) 4 can squeeze)

Got this exact one last time it was on SD.

It's DARK inside. The blackout gimmick works crazy well.

Three people could fit in this comfortably with plenty of room for stuff.

I bought this on SD 4-5 years ago. It's been great. Everyone that I camp with that sleeps in it asks me to send them the link. I then take the opportunity to explain slickdeals and try to indoctrinate them on a better way to live... Back to the tent. We got it for the blackout feature to take our infant camping with us. We fit 2 adults and a pack and play in easily. It gets dark for sure. Like crazy dark. You can sleep in when the sun is up no problem. Very easy put up. Take down is fast and stuffing in the bag took some figuring out but now I know how and nail it every time. It's not bulletproof but it works for a budget friendly, convenient, small group tent.
