Even if it was $4229, this isn't much of a deal. You can get many carbon gravel bikes with similar specs for 25-30% off at pay ~$3k. Yes, this is more of a cross country bike with drop bars, but how many actually needs that...

awfully low end wheels for a 4k+ bike. Hubs are fine and easy to service but nothing special but WTB ST i25 rims are really low end.

not to mention this bike literally looks like they're trying to repurpose extra hard tail frames haha,

This bike is Salsa's interpretation of a fast all-road adventure/bikepacking bike, supposedly inspired by one of the legendary ultra races in this field, the Tour Divide [wikipedia.org]. And if you were to "accuse" Salsa of re-inventing the 90s MTB for use with dropbars and pushing the whole monstercross/gravel/bikepacking, they would probably proudly accept. It is a huge % of their business these days, for enthusiasts and racers alike.

If you think you can do "better" by building your "own" from an old MTB HT, by all means.

I digress.

Not in the market for a Cutthroat and not a "great" deal IMHO, but if you were to buy one, this would help.

If the OP or anyone else finds a deal on a Journeyer 56, DM me before posting. Peace

No dude, I meant they probably were in their warehouse and were like . . "shit we have an extra 400 hardtail frames we need to use up, somebody figure something out with these"

Also I have built one, and I understand their purpose, they're sick. Just not $4300 sick.
