Yet another cable that doesn't have it's main capability printed on the connector. How hard is it to print "100W" or "USB 2.0" on the cable?

I've got a drawer of USB-C cables that I have no idea if they are USB 2 or 3, charging only and how many watts, PD or not, Thunderbolt or not, etc. A couple have "100W" on the label -- kudos to them.

Seems like a basic requirement the rookie USB standards board completely overlooked.

Not really an offer.

I can sneeze and Alexa will try to upsell that to me

Can you please suggest a tester? I haven't had much luck with the admittedly cheap ones I tried.

Get yourself a tester and a label maker. I agree with you but nothing is going to change.

Usb4 and Tb4 are finally forcing some compliance. Not in every way, and you pay extra for the adherence to standards (eg Tb4 *must* be 100w iirc). It's not perfect, but it's a step in the right direction. In the meantime I put a little label on some of mine.

I could also use some guidance here. I looked up USB testers and found a number of them, but I'm not sure specifically what I need to look for to test the cables.

These are pretty horrible. I purchased these and the tip came apart within a month so it was just hanging by the wires. It still kinda works (they let me keep it), but it's one of the few cables I've had fail and returned within the actual return period.

I did not buy this particular model, but two other amazon basics usb-c cables failed in a couple months for me as well.

They've not replaced my cables that went bad the two times I asked them to. I buy and will continue to buy a lot of Anker cables and chargers, but their support is not as good as they claim.

They need to stop with the "usb2.0" on type c cables. It's completely retarded as they're aren't any USB 2.0 host devices using type c.

100W!? I certainly hope not from laptop to device. That seems risky.

Best way to test your charging current/speed is with an app called Ampere. You'd be surprised how much it can vary from cable to cable and between various chargers.
