They're using a different measurement standard than what other class D amps use. Realistically, it's producing 150W at 8 ohms and 250W at 4 ohms as per the Hypex specs listed on their page.

Also, this amp is primarily intended for people with an 11.x channel system who have a separate amp to drive their front stage. So for your 8 sides, rears, and Atmos speakers in a 7.x.4 system, 100w/channel is more than enough.

Works with any avr with line out. XLR to RCA is cheap at $10-15 a cable. There is no adapting other than the plug. All they do is bridge the rca ground to both grounds on the xlr.

Its getting tempting. I kinda need a new receiver since mines a first gen bluray from 2007 ish, bought reconditioned. But i really dont want/need a $2000 setup... But these are not going to get much lower, and there is no way you are going to be able touch anything at this price next year...

I know you can buy adapters for the XLR inputs, but would this even work with a home theater AVR? Can anyone confirm? The price seems slick for 8 X 100 watts. After buying 8 adapters, would the price still be that good?

Can you share a link to a good adapter. I am reading that the adapters have to be configured a certain way. Apparently they don't all work properly.

Yes, works fine with any old Monoprice (or other brand) male RCA to male 3 pin XLR cable going from your AVR preouts to this amp. Would be a hell of an upgrade for most people. The HypeX amp modules in this are some of the best in the world (along with Purifi) imo.

That said, if this is the right buy for you depends on what speakers you're wanting to drive.

You might be better off spending the same amount and getting a 3-channel version just for your LCR with higher wattage per channel.

Again, depends on what you're doing and what your AVR can push out.

Don't use an adapter. Buy a Monoprice male RCA to male 3-pin XLR cable. About $11 for a 6 foot cable.

I don't see how that cable could work. You have two RCA preouts for each channel on the back of the receiver, except for the subwoofer and the center channel which only have one. This cable only has one RCA male connector. https://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-...LW398?th=1

Yea you need one for each channel...

Unless you get a 8 channel "snake". Which i would recommend. Much higher build quality.

For an extra 5 bucks a channel you get name brand cable and connectors, vs china.

Look again. There should be red and white RCA pre-outs for fronts, rears, surrounds, heights, etc. Red is for the right channel, and white is for the left channel. It's a single pre-out per channel.

I guess it's too complex for me. I looked at the manual for the Monoprice AMP, it only has 8 XLR inputs on the back. You'd need 15. 7 of the 8 preouts on the back of the receiver have dual RCA outputs. That's 14. The center channel preout only has one. That makes 15. Unless they make an adapter that converts both RCA male connectors to one XLR terminal, I can't visualize how it would work.

Look aT the back of the unit. If you look close, its still only 8 outs. The rest of the outs are loop backs or for rerouting cd to a home or something. But rca "speaker out" is still only 1 rca per channel.
