That's a great speaker! You definitely can, but a matching center is a better choice.
R2C will work because your speaker is pretty flat. (hence Reference262) +- 2.1 decibels through out the frequency range. Since centers don't perform as great as mains, it should complement your speakers well.

I would (and did!) find an Infinity RC263 instead. It matches perfectly to the R252/263 towers

If you are handy, there are diy kits which are quite comparable (sound wise) to production speakers, though the aesthetics will depend on the builder. It's a fun hobby.

Save some money and just get the matching center channel version of those speakers. Don't bother with this unless you're matching them with other KEF R series speakers.

Agreed. The audio industry makes a lot of money selling people amplification that's way overbuilt and won't make much of an audible difference over most mainstream amps, or even just the amps that come with modern day receivers.

Tube amps will make a difference because they intentionally add coloration (i.e. distortion) to the signal that people might actually prefer. Solid state amps that have adequate power are going to more or less sound the same.

Nowhere near, go listen to your average receiver and then go listen to a Macintosh or Mark Levinson amplifier. It's not even on the same planet. The amplifiers all sound the same myth started in car audio and low end receivers to move product and draw in noobs. The amplifiers and preamp have an absolutely massive impact on sound quality.

Price dropped to $650. I had to do a return (Walnut) and rebuy (Black) because the walnut version is out of stock, so they would not do a price match.
