I would caution anyone who decides to purchase any Neato vacuum.

Vorwerk, the company that bought Neato, just officially announced they're killing the brand though existing products will be supported for 5 years. You'll find if you go on the Neato Subreddit the level of support for the past few years since their acquisition has been laughable at best. I can't imagine it will be any better now as it sails off into the sunset.

FWIW we have had our D3 for almost 5 years now. It's been getting a little wonky lately with navigation and getting stuck or lost in the middle of rooms. We attempted to replace it with the D6 from the Lowes deal posted here last year but I couldn't get the firmware update to work due to errors on Neato's side. Tried manually flashing the firmware posted on Reddit but I was never able to find the right combination of OTG cable and flashdrive to let the machine accept it and ended up returning. I was unable get any support from Neato.

Bought it, got it, won't update firmware through app… haven't tried manual option notes in Reddit but not sure I want to spend time on it either - prob will return especially with 5 year planned server obsolescence.

Neato is going out of business
Neato is claiming they will give 5yrs of support, but the product is already glitchy YMMV in real word use. Neato has always over promised and under delivered IMO

Best use of this deal is to buy for parts

Multiple reports of recently sold Neatos that will not update to No Go lines, so, assume you will not be able to update the robot. YMMV

For the $114 it seems like a good vacuum if it wasn't for the broken connection to upgrade the firmware and then losing functionality once their servers are offline... not sure if all "smart" functionality will go away such as new mapping, no-go lines (currently working), scheduling. The scheduling is limited on this one if you want to run more than 1 time a day (can't do it). I read about them going out of business after buying it and decided to at least give it a try; highly unlikely I'll keep it even though seems like a solid machine unless there's a way I can retain control of the smart functionality.

If you must have the app features… pass this by.

However… this will run without the app. Just press the button on the vacuum and it will clean just as well as it did when people bought these for 500 bucks.

We have one on each level and usually just press the button anyway since we have to empty the bin every time. The app features have not been useful to us. Glad there is a way to run it standalone.

Bought one… might get two…

This vacuum SUCKS…

Shame that neato going out of business. I had a d75 and a D3 ... Never had an issue. But after moving houses, and having my neato disconnected for 5 months, I wasn't able to make it connect to a new wifi.

It still works by pressing the button, but I've noticed when going back to base, it can't dock. It stays off the dock by 6 inches or so ...

Shame. I loved the D shape much better than the rounded ones.

Went through several Neatos, same story every single time: works fine then first year, then weird behavior begins: various errors, unexpected shut downs, unable to connect to wi-fi, etc etc. Batteries are not cheap, vacuums themselves are loud, get stuck just like any other robot. In short, there are better options now.

I still have one ancient XV-15 I paid around $300 for at the time and a couple of the xv-20's (?) I picked up from amazon warehouse for $129 each....the xv-15 has been rock steady...the other's were backups....I have a 3d printed dust bin that lets you use the cheaper roomba hepa filters and added a lithium battery which doubled the vacuum time...has worked like a champ. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1799554 <-- dust bin.
