I have both sam's and Costco as well and couldn't disagree more with this. Grocery prices sam's is cheaper and it's not close. Unless you only eat organic, sam's everyday. Don't feel like paying $6/lb for chicken breast.
I just got a sam's club membership with the recent $10 deal. The way I see it right now is even if sam's is a bit more expensive on stuff, the lower crowds compared to Costco and the existence of scan and go at sam's club makes it more worth while just in time savings. Every time I go to Costco I'm spending 10-15 minutes waiting to check out with 1000 other people, and dodging people with their 6 kids every 5 feet. it feels like everyone and their relatives has a Costco membership.
I guess. I feel like a lot of people seem to view Costco as some exclusive, invitation only club. Personally I think Costco and Sam's club is similar enough where it doesn't really matter which you're a member of. For me, the better technology (scan and go, and online prices/availability) and fewer people is why I prefer sam's.

Chicken breast at Costco is $3.99 for me so maybe it's a regional issue. Prices are pretty similar for me. Costco just seems/feels nicer, but I have both.

My sam's unfortunately has the slowest door people and it takes that long just to get out even with scan and go.
Scan and go is the only reason I go, which I think makes it superior to the Costco "experience". Other than that I am not crazy about either store, but do prefer Costco's beef selection in terms of quality.

Sam's gas is cheaper compared to Costco all day everyday. I have both Costco (share it with my dad) and Sam's (share it with family).
So glad I didn't pick up the griddle when it was $229.

Costco's prices have gone up dramatically and continue going up. and, almost NOTHING food-wise is on sale anymore. I have found most prices at Sam's or even Wegmans now beat Costco. And yes, I've checked over and over.
Both companies are trying to make a buck off you so just pick and choose what works best for you based on price, quality, and convenience. If you have ethical issues with Sam's club then you factor that into your price when you are searching for deals.
Anyone who is interested in good deals needs to be an Informed shopper to shop accordingly.
For example, I can't get photo prints anymore from costco. So I now use Sam's club because the quality is good for the price
I only have a Sam's membership. Sam's stocks too much junk food, & not enough healthy food options. If you are following the SAD(Standard American Diet) Sam's is the place for you.
I live 30 miles from the nearest Sam's or the nearest Costco. This makes Sam's Plus free shipping ideal for at least 1/3rd or so of the items I buy. The last time I checked Costco doesn't have anything similar to free shipping or curbside pickup, unless you like donating a few dollars every grocery trip to keep Instacart in business. Is this still the case?

I've been keeping an eye out on the griddle after selling my 2 burner Blackstone. Not a bad price with overall good reviews, and at least $100 less than the Blackstone 4 burner.

People claiming one place is cheaper than the other should prove it by creating a spreadsheet with real-time price comparisons, or they are just like most people when bullshtting around and cherry-picking examples in their arguments and claiming they have the truth on their side because their 5 gallon of mayo is 5% cheaper at one place.
