Vitamin D3 increases calcium absorption. Vitamin K2 assists in redirecting that absorbed calcium to the bones. Otherwise, there's a risk of calcium kidney stones formation.
Don't take my word for it, just google it. Or don't. Hope you don't get kidney stones i guess....

The study, which followed 132,000 patients at a Utah based medical center, found that the risk of newly developed atrial fibrillation jumped almost three-fold when blood levels of vitamin D were high.

fyi: from personal (perceived) experience...I don''t think there is a work around for pills that are way too high above the 600iu recommendation. That being said, for some in persistent darkness latitude, maybe a high dose recommended by your doctor may be appropriate. It's just not for me.
If you experience cardiac problems after taking, you will know where it came from.

Also, critically, the above article doesn't even mention magnesium or K2, which are very important to take in combination with vitamin D to make sure the calcium is absorbed by your bones and teeth. It would not surprise me at all if there were negative side effects to taking massive doses of D if you are magnesium and K2 deficient.

If you read an actual medical journal such as the above, you would know that vitamin D deficiency is a very serious issue and has far worse side effects than too much vitamin D.
