Overpriced - Yes. I bought my Embody on sale directly from Herman Miller for 1k with all the extras. This was in 2016, I get inflation but the new price is beyond inflation. The same chair I purchased in 2016 for $1050 is now $2020.

Over-hyped - I still don't think so. Due to life happening, at a young age I've always had lower back pain. Sitting down in an office chair never helped either. I researched Embody and decided to pull the trigger on it seven years ago. After adjusting I've never felt back pain sitting down, at least not in this chair. I used to work at an office and sat in multiple chairs depending which office/conference room I was visiting and every chair made my back eventually hurt. A lot of these chairs were very expensive as well. Plenty of online reviews comparing chairs, mostly all reviewers agree Embody chair is great.

I work from home now, and the only thing I would like to have on my Embody is a headrest. Luckily "Atlas Headrests" have made a headrest for it. I'm just waiting for mine to eventually ship.

Would I buy an Embody again? Yes. Would I wait for a bigger sale before buying one? Maybe

Herman Miller isn't the only bad guy here when it comes to over inflating cost, Steel Case has done the very same thing. The Haworth Fern does seem like an interesting option.

Waste of money buying the HM logitech Embody Gaming chair. I bought 2 for little more then $620 each brand new from a price mistake which they honored for me. The chair is not worth it even at $620 each. Better off with the HM Sayl which I got used for $125 that looks brand new from a deal on SD at a used furniture store.
I have always found the Aeron terrible and the Embody maybe even worse but the Mirra is actually not bad.

I tend to go with mesh chairs because my badonkadonk (I guess that's what I get for squatting too much) sweats if I sit in a fabric chair. I'm guessing this will have the same effect given it is polyester?

overpriced/ over-hyped, had an Aeron and was not impressed at all the fabric was itchy, lumbar support mediocre, the marketing hype machine is akin to Dyson or Apple products but the lemmings will follow
Aeron is old material tech. Tested it for two weeks and had the same thoughts. The embody on the other hand is worth any hype it receives, great chair 8 years in

Bonuses weren't cancelled, she was telling them to stop worrying about if they would get them or not. Still came off very poorly but she was implying the company is still $26 million off target and that should be the focus at the moment.
Yeah, I was all ready to be outraged but when I read her actual comments there was nothing bad about what she said. You'll never reach your goals if they're not the focus. She wants the team to get out of the loser's mindset they were in. You think Michael Jordan ever entered a game thinking he was going to lose??

If you own this chair or something in this amount. YOU should not be on slickdeals 😂
Oh no. I own a computer with reasonably good hardware that cost more than $600. Guess I better not be on Slickdeals.

If you are near a DWR Outlet, it might be worth calling them for a quote on one of these. I picked up an Embody G that was still wrapped recently for $733. They had a bunch more in stock and offered to ship for about $200.

Supposedly the outlet chairs have no warranty but the serial # is still in tact, so I don't see why HM wouldn't honor it

The Embody is the only desk chair I've found that allows me to sit comfortably without back pain for long periods. I've owned cheap Staples brand chairs, I tried a bungee chair from the Container Store, I also tried a used Steelcase Leap V2. All those chairs eventually led to bad sciatic pain (even though I also own a standing desk). That pain not only negatively affected my work, it also negatively affected the rest of my life. I had trouble sleeping, I couldn't exercise, etc.

I don't know exactly what the Embody does that makes it work for me. I think it's bc it takes pressure off my tailbone by distributing weight more to the middle of my legs and higher up on my back.. I'm sure there are other chairs out there that are cheaper that would have solved my problem but I don't work in an office and don't have access to tons of different chairs. i would have liked to test out a Haworth Fern but I don't have a showroom near me. Finding the Embody was a godsend, I felt relief the moment I sat in it. I bought one right away and have been happy ever since. It's no understatement to say it truly improved my life. It's not a perfect chair and it won't work for everyone but if you have back issues and need to sit at a desk for long periods, you owe it to yourself to try one out.

Do you think this is the only ceo that talks like this? You might end up never buying something again

I definitely am in the market for one of these (remodeling my home office) but it'll be a cold day in heck before I help that CEO get another cent of bonus money.
Same, will buy after the CEO resigns

Strange analogy. I guess it would hold true if he had his compensation cut right before a game, but I'm pretty sure that never happened.

Stop paying for an overhyped chair. Search for Allseating You or Allseating You Too chair. This chair offers amazing lumbar support, different arm and textile options. Yes, they don't have referral links like Herman Miller to pay news outlets to say that their chair is the best.

I'm sorta with you. I got an Aeron last year for a really good deal and it's kinda just a chair. Which is a real bummer. The mesh isn't soft or forgiving at all. Lumbar "support" is two thin pieces of plastic with a 2mm foam backing. Of the two, neither has vertical adjustment and the horizontal is weird. All in, I'm really disappointed for almost $1500.
If your Aeron's lumbar support is kinda V-shaped from the back, you can remove that and replace it with the original lumbar support thing, which is just a heavy duty foam pad that is adjustable up and down, and has a thin/thick side that you can flip it over for. There are a ton of options if you search for "aeron foam lumbar" on Amazon or wherever. That's what the original lumbar support mechanism was like on the Aeron. The V-shaped one is the "upgraded" one but it doesn't adjust much at all.

EDIT: Look at 4:05 of the Crandall refurb video to see the standard foam pad (they have another video comparing the two, but I can't find it at the moment):
