Overpriced - Yes. I bought my Embody on sale directly from Herman Miller for 1k with all the extras. This was in 2016, I get inflation but the new price is beyond inflation. The same chair I purchased in 2016 for $1050 is now $2020.

Over-hyped - I still don't think so. Due to life happening, at a young age I've always had lower back pain. Sitting down in an office chair never helped either. I researched Embody and decided to pull the trigger on it seven years ago. After adjusting I've never felt back pain sitting down, at least not in this chair. I used to work at an office and sat in multiple chairs depending which office/conference room I was visiting and every chair made my back eventually hurt. A lot of these chairs were very expensive as well. Plenty of online reviews comparing chairs, mostly all reviewers agree Embody chair is great.

I work from home now, and the only thing I would like to have on my Embody is a headrest. Luckily "Atlas Headrests" have made a headrest for it. I'm just waiting for mine to eventually ship.

Would I buy an Embody again? Yes. Would I wait for a bigger sale before buying one? Maybe

Herman Miller isn't the only bad guy here when it comes to over inflating cost, Steel Case has done the very same thing. The Haworth Fern does seem like an interesting option.

overpriced/ over-hyped, had an Aeron and was not impressed at all the fabric was itchy, lumbar support mediocre, the marketing hype machine is akin to Dyson or Apple products but the lemmings will follow
I don't know why there's so many dislikes on this. All of these kind of chairs are ridiculously overpriced and overhyped.

Some of these things cost $1,000, they aren't even made in a first world country, and they have nowhere near enough padding. These companies have just convinced a ton of you guys totally waste money on a chair that they probably built for like a hundred bucks with Chinese slaves

You think $100 lol probably way less. And that shit better come with a lifetime warranty including on-site technician to fix your chair.
They have to charge for all them doctor and gamer professionals "experts" on the RnD. Lmaoooo what a joke.

I'm going for it. Really wish I could compare the Embody/Gesture/Fern in person, but no such showroom exists near me. The refurbished Steelcase Gesture deal on the front page right now is intriguing, but I'm not particularly enthused about dealing with returns/warranty from a 3rd party refurbisher on a chair that costs almost as much as my mortgage.

At least this deal offers a relatively hassle-free 30-day return policy straight from the manufacturer, and the 12-year warranty should be irrefutable. If the Embody doesn't change my life, I'll send it back and try the Gesture/Fern next time.
I've spent an average of 8+ hours a day in an Embody chair (not the "gamer" edition) since 2008, and I still can't say enough good things about it. No regrets, even after paying full price 15 years ago. Make sure you adjust the controls to your own body, though -- once you dial in the correct settings, you actually look forward to sitting in it after being away (but if you skip the setup, your back will let you know pretty quick).

I just want to say, I got the embody g from the last sale. I am younger and disabled, bad hips, lower back all that. I went through several chairs that I just could bare hardly an hour in. So I finally convinced myself to spend the money on one of these as a 'medical' expense and not a luxury.

Overpriced… maybe… did I have some second thoughts as to why I spent so much, of course.

But man let me tell you, I actually look forward to getting out of bed now and getting in my embody. If I do to many errands killing myself, I cant wait to rush home and get in my chair. Standing in the kitchen too long, I'd rather crutch back to my room and sit in the embody for a few minutes than pull up a barstool next to me…

I think you get the point, it has been a life changer for me as someone with severe pain. I don't regret it at all… of course ymmv as a chair is very personal, but just wanted to share.

P.s. yeah, f that ceo though

Yeah sure you do. Nothing medical about this chair that a regular $100 chair can't do. I wanted to feel that way when I bought 2 of these chairs and I only paid $620 each. Its a waste of money even at that price. Go to your local used furniture store and pickup a used HM sayl for $125 and it will be the same thing.
You really comparing these to $100? Unlike you I won't hit you with the sure you do and it's unfortunate you didn't notice the difference, but you are likely in the minority. If you got a specific recommendation for $100 chair please share. Never sat in Herman miller before so can't vouch but for 8-12 hour sitting sessions I'd say I solid built chair is worth it. Obv we are all different so really about personal preference.

The CEO is a woman. Nothing will happen to her, unless she's caught on video butchering people, and even then it's iffy. I've heard little to nothing about this in the main media. They don't want to touch it. Just truth telling.

I have the Embody gaming chair and I really only have one main complaint with it and it's the lumbar support. I feel there isn't much of it and the chair in general makes you lean back and can't seem to adjust it to sit-up straight, I suppose since gamers are expected to lean back for hours on their chair? Unless there's some setting I'm unaware of, but I do wish it had more lumbar support or can be adjusted so I can sit-up at times.

Not sure if anyone responded on this, but when I was searching for a chair 6 months ago, I thought I'd love the gesture. Tried it at a showroom, and it was awful for me, the leap was amazing.

I ended up getting a herman miller aeron as they had one for 600 as they were getting rid of leftover stock but it only has 2 years left of its warranty(herman miller stopped supplying to them). Maybe not a great deal but freed up my time of trying to get a unicorn deal. And I added a 3rd party headrest to it, as long as it has no issues for the next few years minimum then I'll be happy.
