wowzer... for this price of $800, isnt it better just to get a decent ebike?
You're not going to get a bad ebike for 800 let alone a decent one.

For those new to e-scooters, Ninebot/Segway is basically the Apple brand equivalent. It is the most popular scooter brand and their higher end products are generally considered to be durable and dependable, with little maintenance requirements.
This is the newest release from them for their entry level serious scooters. They have crappier scooters that are more like toys (although also potential for serious injuries so take serious if you are riding them) and they also have much more advanced scooters that go faster.
The G2 is the next release of the G30p, G30LP series, both of which are highly rated and extremely popular series.
I think this is a very good deal for most people looking to get into e-scooters.

In this price range, or for $100-200 more, you can get a dual motor scooter, which I highly recommend if you are looking for stronger hill climbing ability.

I personally buy Android phones, because I think you get more value than from Apple, but I completely understand why someone would pick Apple products. You are paying for the name, but also very a very reliable and dependable product. I think this product is similar.

Just wanted to give some more feedback for those on the fence for this deal.

Can anyone recommend a good scooter that is lighter? I feel, as a female, that this would be too heavy to transport.

I've had the original Max since the Indiegogo campaign in 2019, love it with the hacked software to increase the acceleration and remove the kick off requirement. What is the difference between this and the original, is this the V3 version? I know the V2 came with a better motor. I'd be tempted to sell my Gen 1 just because of the speed drop down to 15mph once the battery loses 2 bars.

Why are these getting so expensive? I got a nice electric scooter for $150 on a deal several years ago, and it's worked great for our usage. My wife takes the scooter every nice day back and forth to school, and it folds up and importantly is light enough to easily carry into class.

Not everyone wants these higher payload longer distance scooters. I thought by now we'd see more lighter duty quality scooters in the $100 to $200 price range?

May I ask what kind of scooter is it?

Not sure why anyone would ever buy one of these over a VSETT 8 19.2Ah, which can currently be picked up for $775 (https://revrides.com/collections/...t-8-19-2ah). Very decent front/rear suspension, NFC keys, turn signals, up to 45 miles range, speed up to 24-26 mph, good support through Rev Rides, handles that fold down, dual brakes, 7 lbs lighter, comes with carrying pouch and extra tube, 48v vs 36v, etc.

I literally can't see any reason to buy this Segway instead other than "I like the way it looks better."
Segway gets UL certifications. I do think there are better scooters for similar price but the Segway brand probably has the best build and consumer trust. Fires are a significant issue with these battery powered mobility devices right now.

I don't want to be responsible for a fire and would rather pay more for the comfort.

It's this Hover-1 Pioneer model I got back in 2019 for $150:
https://slickdeals.net/e/13675727-hover-1-pioneer-electric-folding-scooter-black-with-8-5-air-filled-tires-led-headlight-digital-display-electronic-throttle-14-mph-max-speed-264-lbs-max-weight-148#

My kids have used it, now my wife uses it for 1/3 mile trip back and forth to work. Some folks have complained this scooter was not strong enough, or did not have enough range. But hey not everyone weighs 200lbs+ or needs to travel many miles. Knock on wood, this scooter is still going strong and the light weight and easy folding have been a great feature. A big heavy scooter would not be good for our use case.

Time to hit the gym. Plenty of women lift weights now

Also if you plan on going up stairs often a scooter or bike will both be an issue.

How light do you need it and what do you need in a scooter aside from being light? Most commuter/lightweight scooters weigh around 40 lb. If you're willing to pay (around 1k), then you can look into E-twow, they have scooters that weigh about 25 lbs.

If you're trying to spend under $600 and still have it be portable and light (under 30lb) without going into questionable quality, I myself have not found one. I've settled on an OKAI ES520B for $430. It weighs 38 lb. There is a neon lite which weighs 33 lb. It's less powerful and cost $500.

Yes, but 43 lbs is a lot. My verve 3 is only 34 lbs and I think that's heavy.

the tires. you are a lot less likely to get a flat on this than the vsette 8 or 9. if the vsette 9 came with seal healing tubeless ill be all over it like people at costco samples
Vsett 8 has pneumatic tire in front, solid tire in back. Vsett 8+ has two solid tires. Personally, I prefer the smoother ride of pneumatic 👍

I guess that's a fair point but literally any device with a battery comes with the risk. It's possible that the risk really is less with with the Segway, or they just paid for certification to make you feel better about it.

Either way, you're paying for some kind of peace of mind that has nothing to do with actually riding the scooter. I'd much rather pay for a scooter that is notably better in pretty much every way, then spend $40 for a fire extinguisher from Costco to keep around for peace of mind.

To each their own...
