These anecdotes are useless. If you want information on drive longevity beyond "I bought one and it did/did not have issues" check this link: https://www.backblaze.com/blog/ba...-for-2022/

I jumped on the last deal when these came from Western Digital direct a few months back and put 4 into my NAS and I can say that they have been as quiet as all my other drives, with no noticeable difference especially with the WD golds running which are slightly louder. So if you're looking for a top end sized drive I 100% recommend these. WD reds are just super bullet proof vs the competitors. I am still using a 4TB red in my gaming rig that I bought a decade ago and its still running strong. Anyways just my 2 cents.

Also if you get a chance to get the WD golds for a good price do it, I use those as my pivot pool and they have been noticeably faster with their ZFS pool.

not the absolute lowest $/TB ( $16.5/TB) But these drives do have a 5yr warranty.

Some people complain about noise, IMO get a better case...all hard drives will make noise,

I've had 2 WD with bad blocks and 3 Seagate thus far. None of them died completely, they just started increasing bad block counts. One of the WD was a red, the rest of the drives were compute"" level. I now run all recertified Seagate and WD Gold. It has been working well so far!

I have 6 WD Golds 16tb and it sounds like somebody starting a diesel truck if they are all running at the same time. I kinda like it though.

Are you saying you run recertified WD Golds, or are only your Seagates recertified? If the former, where do you source them?

The 18TB actually seems cheaper per TB ($15.55) if you're willing to wait for a backorder from Newegg (16TB too).
