It's way better than a Chromebook. Make sure you modify the power limit and graphics settings in bios (watch ETA Prime youtube vid) to double the performance. You can't beat this value for the cpu and 16gb (soldered) ram and 500gb m2 ssd. Free upgrade to Win11. Limited bloatware. Refurbished units pop up on walmart for ~$260 of the 14" model.

I bought the 15" model last October for $300 (has numeric keypad), works great. The webcam is poor quality. Speakers are okay. The screen is a decent ips (no issues with it falling out like some reported in previous deal threads). They keyboard is nothing special. A tad heavy but it uses metal/limited plastic so build quality is average. The battery only lasts ~3hrs unplugged w battery saver browsing web/watching youtube/movies.

It has older wifi 5 & bt 5. One thing I noticed though is my HDMI output can only do 4k at 30fps, not 60fps so not really watchable. 1080p HD looks fine hooking up to TV though. I'm not sure about the usb-c output resolution.

It has a hatch in the back to add a backup m2 ssd drive (Leven JM600 1tb $40 off amazon).

Just to let everyone know the ssd drive is sata. Only 550mb per sec transfer.
Given that it's still very snappy. Have 2 of them and work just fine.

I brought a Gateway laptop last year in Walmart for 250 on the same config. It is cheap parts like Keyboard keys are pulling off within 90 days. they are very cheap. I have to use my external key board to use the laptop now. it is a piece of crap.

Is it backlight bleed or IPS Glow? If the colors change at different viewing angles, then IPS Glow.

I have a very small (shorter than the menu title bar) IPS glow at the top left corner. And even tinier ones on the right corners. So I'm not complaining.

well i just got mine(ordered a black one, came w/ Windows 11 installed) during the week and set it up last night. here are my thoughts so far:
  • for under $300, the build quality is decent.
  • it didnt turn on off the bat. looks like it was not charged. once i charged it, it turned on.
  • having to hold down the power button for a few sec to turn on the computer is annoying but i guess i can deal with it.
  • def notice a glow on the right top corner of the screen. more prominent obv in dark mode. less obvious in light mode.
  • does feel faster after the bios settings update.
  • track pad is def not great but im using external logitech mouse so not too bothered
  • fingerprint readers works fine for me so far. maybe bc i have smaller fingers. def on a unusual spot on the trackpad
  • charger is def cheap and i can see this as the first thing breaking.
