A few warnings here. The seller is using an old listing to sell this different model, the reviews are NOT for the one in the OP.

The 5500U is based on Zen 2, not Zen 3. Its basically a 4 year old CPU design that was relabeled to confuse consumers.

As it goes for Chinese SFFPC brands, Amazon's return warranty is the only warranty you'll really get.

Finally, you'd be wise to do a clean install of Windows when getting this, its not uncommon for Chinese SFFPC and media boxes to come with malware.

Not really. They usually go for verify Intel nic card for those, not Realtek. Tons of drop issue with Realtek nic for pf/opnsense.

Agree, especially since the 5500U is just a rebadged 4600U (Zen 2), a generation older than the 5600H (Zen 3). Though $30 isn't negligible when you're talking about a sub-$300 PC.

Serious question. The Netgate devices are $200-300. Why use a pc similar in price. More performance or do you guys run other stuff into pfsense server?


I would thjnk you wouldn't want to run / save anything else on a pfsense firewall machine as that is the breach point?
