It is not self-leveling, which is not a problem in itself, but it means that you have to level by eye with the vials. The vials are small and difficult to read. The air bubble is too small between the lines, and the vials are recessed in a way that often keeps them in shadow. My eyes are very good, and as levels go, this is one is very hard to read.
Toolsmith makes a version of this that feels like a toy but works. I really hoped the Bosch version would be an improvement. I own dozens of levels, dozens of Bosch tools, and maybe 10 lasers and use these tools daily.
This one is a paperweight. Not a deal at any price.

Most of my box levels are Stabila. I never have to check them but still do sometimes. I checked the GLL1P against a Stabila box level for the vial and the base, and I checked the laser projection down a wall against a PLS 180g.
With my copy, the vial was aligned with the laser, but neither was aligned with the base. If the design and vials had been better quality, I might have bought a second or third, looking for one that was in-spec, but I found it was also terrible in use. There are structocast plastic levels that are cheaper, more legible, and more accurate.
