It's basically how WD cuts way down on warranty obligations. It will probably last longer. But there are better drives out there for similar money so this one is junk.

I've had this drive for 1.5 years and I'm very happy with it. I use it to run a Windows VM with steam for in-home streaming. It is used daily to serve up games and occasional web browsing. 12TBW, 12k power-on hours and still 98% health remaining. Speeds are great, no errors, crashes or overheating.

However, with prices this low, you can probably do a lot better for just a few dollars more.

I mean it's a fast enough Drive for games and operating system. Just can't say how slow it will be once it gets halfway filled up. Haven't done the research. Longevity is the question
