I'm also waiting for a good deal on a decently priced, quality 8x42 binos. I'm sure one will be coming up here... anyday now!

On the fence. Would prefer 11x42, but solid value.

Can anyone compare these to the Celestron Nature DX?

I absolutely love the clarity of the Celestron but need a bit more magnification.

I'm a Nikon fan, but with their Monarch 5 and 7 series, but compared with the Nature DX vs ProStaff 3, I would go with the Nature DX. And if you're able to wait for a sale below $100 with their 10x, then wait and put an alert with Camelcamelcamel.

Going to Alaska next month. Which are the best pair of binoculars around the $500 range to see far and clear?

The Vortex lineup is hard to beat for QPR. At that price I would go with their Viper line. Amazon.com : Vortex Optics Viper HD Roof Prism Binoculars 10x42 : Electronics
