A54 is a better deal with esim
S21 FE has no esim

The terms for the A54 5G are in-store and port of an eligible phone number (no T-Mobile or T-Mobile mvnos). Pay taxes on the full MSRP too. Plus whatever other charges with in-store like maybe activation cost.

"How to get this offer:
Purchase a new Samsung Galaxy A54 5G for $469.99 at a Metro by T-Mobile Store (in store exclusive)
Bring current eligible phone number to receive an instant $450 rebate off the full retail price of $469.99
Receive a virtual $20 Prepaid Mastercard for the cost of the device after 3 recurring monthly payments on a $40+ rate plan."

* You can't wrong with either choice between A54 or the s21 FE. I don't have any att or Verizon phone number to port so A54 5G isn't really an option for me.

With the s21 FE, you will get better quality screen, more powerful processor, better camera according to dxomark and wireless charging. I believe DEX support too. With the A54 5G, you will get microsd support, bigger battery means better battery life and you will get longer support as the A54 is a newer phone.

Is it locked 6 months after activation or after 6 months of paid service?

I believe dual sim ( esim and psim) is only available for factory unlocked models, not for carrier locked ones like from Metro Boost Tracfone etc. Correct if I am wrong.
S21 FE should have esim capable after Android 13 update? Even S20 got dual sim after Android 13.

Tax rules are state specific, I always pay tax on the sale price on these Metro deals.

will it hurt my credit score if i don't pay the second month? The checkout page says "Due monthly $40". I know it is prepaid. But why due monthly?

Some states require tax collected on the value of the full non-discounted price of the phone.
Dealers are infamous for charging taxes when even corporate stores (before they were closed recently) didn't. And for adding on charges and unwanted warranties, cases, etc.

So, DON'T do the "cheaper" deal in a store. Whatsoever. Because it will likely cost you MUCH more.

Yes it's a good way to test and tell yourself to never try T-Mobile again, and stick to freaking empty cans connected with a string, over T-Mobile's morbid connection.

No decent person should have to go from Verizon to T-Mobile. I visit a family member in the woods and realized the Verizon connection at their property isn't particularly strong, and T-Mobile gets by. But since they have good home internet and Wi-Fi, they can use WiFi calling when at home. At least, they'd not suffer the torture that TMobile network is on the go.
I use TMobile and I always get reception. I live in NY. The problem with Verizon is that they seem to cost way more than the competitors. Bad value. I am speaking for mvnos. I would always use T-Mobile or ATT before I would ever think about Verizon.

Plus TMobile 5G is far superior than Verizon and ATT. They smoke the competition in speed and availability. Won tons of 5G awards over ATT and Verizon.
