How does this compare to aging Oneplus 8? I am using one from December 2021 deals ($249) and it has been performing pretty well (no lags or slowdowns or whatsoever). It has been getting regular updates too. Not sure if it is in line for Android 14 but I can wait.

by "don't port out or switch device", you mean that we should leave the sim card in this phone?
Yeah, I heard it's better to leave the sim in the phone and actually make some calls in the first 8 days. This is the source of this information:

I can answer your question on Monday when my Metro A54 is scheduled to be delivered. The Metro A54 has the LTE bands used by Verizon, but Verizon has a "whitelist" of accepted IMEIs and sometimes they don't put the IMEIs of phones sold by other carriers in their whitelist. You can't activate a phone with Verizon if it's not in their whitelist.

I have ported out a metro number and used a T-Mobile sim during the first 180 days (on OP N200). The phone still was unlocked after 180 days

Pardon my ignorance but I need to provide a temporary cp to a guest for a month or two. Do a prepaid sim and an unlocked cp the best option? TIA

Went to the closest Metro store close to me. They did not have any of these phones in stock but tried to "upsell" me a Galaxy A53 for $250. Then when I looked at the guy like he was crazy and asked how this was even remotely a deal, the language barrier suddenly went out the window and the accent got worst. lol I turned around and left.

How does the unlocking process work? Do we need to text a number to confirm the unlock?

Depends your version of the 8. OnePlus releases most of their phones with 3 major upgrade releases. The 8 and 8 pro came with Android 10, so Android 13 will be the final version update and is also at the end of it's support life, even though some of the later models came already upgraded to Android 11. The OnePlus 8T was released with Android 11, and will get an Android 14 update as it's final upgrade. Also OnePlus will only release the monthly security updates for 4 years now. There are a couple models of the Nord line that will get the an additional upgrade to 14 that originally wasnt supposed to, but it's supposed to fix the bugs that Android 13 has caused. (I think those are the international versions)

The CPU performance looks fine. It is fairly close to a S22 Ultra. It is the GPU that's weak. Not a big deal unless you play a lot of graphically intensive games on your phone. https://www.techarp.com/mobile/sa...rformance/
that paper specs, when you have one in hand and run Antutu, you will see the SoC performance loses 99% Android phones in the world
