For those unfamiliar with Home Depot "Hack". The hack involves only getting the chainsaw kit. You will use the value of the free battery to reduce the main kit price.

How to do the Hack:
Option 1: Order the battery to one store and order the Chainsaw kit to a store near you. Pick up the chainsaw kit then go online and cancel the pick up on the Battery at the other store. This will result in only getting charged the prorated value of the chainsaw kit which will be the "Hack" Price.

Option 2: Order for home Delivery then just return the battery to a local store. Can also ship it back but that's more of a hassle.

Happy hunting.

A note on the hack process.
Increasingly people have been forced into having both portions of the bundle delivered to the same location (be it a store or home) on some deals.
It looks like HD is starting to catch on, but their system is slow to adapt.

I would not get another dewalt chainsaw. Had a 12" from a prior SD and the oil leaked out on its own and made a disaster on my garage shelf. Exchanged it and same thing with the second. Dewalt CS is of no help either.
Yeah my 12" dewalt chainsaw leaks a little. I just drain it every use. beast of a saw otherwise.

The 18" and 20" 60V are considered "Gen 2" in the 60V line up and most reviewers say they dont leak.

I just ordered one so I cant speak to personal experience.

The bar oil definitely leaks on DeWalt saws. We have every single size and they all leak

My 12" saw also leaks oil if left in the standard position. I just make sure I leave it on its side so the cap is up. A small hassle that shouldn't have to b done of course but works

Thanks for posting.

Definitely not as well-reviewed as Ego's 18 inch chainsaw.

I don't like having an extra battery ecosystem, but Ego is just so much better. Almost every tool they have is solid.

The carpentry brands are hit or miss, and their blowers, across all the carpentry brands, can't compare to Ego.

I have the 20v 8 inch polesaw and 60v 18 inch chainsaw. I don't think the 20v is worth it beyond some hard to reach areas for pruning, it binds up really easily. The 60v is farkin' sweet, though, it's done plenty well with our lot which is a little over two acres. Tons of downed trees and limbs from the February ice storms, and it just chews through everything. Although I'm not trying to cut through 14 inch trunks or anything (...yet), so I can't say it's necessarily "heavy duty" or anything like that. Good deal.

Still not a bad deal for a free 9ah FlexVolt if you need the battery.

How long does it take Home Depot to cancel a pick up order for these hackable deals? I placed an order on March 30th, picked up what I wanted the same day, and the battery was shipped to the store for pickup by April 14th. I expected them to cancel the battery by now but I can only imagine it's just sitting at the Home Depot pick up area? My online order says "This item is not eligible for cancellation" so I can't do it myself.

I have the 60v with the 18" bar (DCCS672) and it is shockingly strong. Its first task out of the box was to fell a 12" diameter tree and it left my buddy and I just chuckling as how easily the blade was able to glide through it. Now, that has a lot to do with a sharp blade, but we were both sold after that. We also bucked up the whole thing and it only knocked a single bar off of the 9ah battery. I haven't noticed that mine is leaning oil and I leave it on the bottom flat, so maybe they fixed it.

I own the 16" version and it's been phenomenal. Having it start up instantly with no issues and zero maintenance (besides bar oil) has been nothing short of a game changer for me as someone that's not using the saw every day and only a few times per season. Highly recommended

this is not true. I've returned hundreds of "hacks" over the years and I have no problem purchasing or returning purchases
