"They don't go on sale." LOL. The Player series guitars can be found on sale pretty much anytime. Not always at this price, but you can always find one on sale somewhere. You mention Guitar Center....you can get 10% off any Fender just by signing up for an account. Their sister store Musician's friend has probably a dozen player series guitars on sale. Even Adorama (the site of this deal) frequently has their LPD Player series for cheaper than this.

Squiers are not children's guitars. I've had Classic Vibes that are far better than Player series guitars. My Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster is one of the best playing guitars I've ever owned. Chris Buck plays a Squier Classic Vibe Jazzmaster live. And they're not made in Korea. They're made in China.
Your opinions could use some experience and knowledge to leaven them out a bit—but then they'd be different, I suppose.

However, the pickups, bridge, and pots are superior, as is the satin gloss on the back of the neck. Frets are level, however a bit rougher on the ends then the CV. I only really notice if I'm running my hand over the fretboard specifically looking for issues, though. I've never scratched my hand while playing

Setup however, totally agree. If you can't do it yourself, you'll be spending extra on a setup
i find the cv pickups to be great and the gloss isn't so sticky on current run (was worse in previous years) . people into upgrading pickups often do the mim anyway so upgrading the squier would be the same cost if you do that. same with the bridge. so squiers are better if you plan on upgrading parts, but they're also better for beginners imo due to the better out of the box care. fender mim are in a weird middle spot where they have slightly better stuff, for twice the cost, but not good enough stuff for snobs .. but are setup worse and have worse frets for beginners/intermediate who don't take them to a pro to get them fixed. i'm capable of setting up a guitar/bass just fine but once it gets to fixing frets is when i usually feel better about a luthier getting involved. i'm pretty sure every mim fender i've tried at guitar center (over 20 guitars) in the past 5 years has had sharp frets where the squiers almost never do. i wouldn't buy an mim without expecting to get someone to fix them. i think they kind of fit the "player" name.. where they're great guitars for gigging musicians who need a reliable quality instrument and can pay for a luthier to get it ready for them .

ps- i also personally find most player colors to be better than the classic vibe retro/throwback looks . and affinitys usually just look cheap despite how great they can be for the money. i also appreciate the extra fret on some of the fender models etc.

Ladies ladies…you're all pretty. Let's chill😄

Late to the party here but want to say I own a American Strat, Gibson ES335, Gretsch 6120, PRS, and a couple of Ric's. My Mexi Strat purchased new in 92 is still my best player. I'll never get rid of it. Plays like butter, and it's been knocked around and not a case queen.

Yes, you can purchased used for a little less. But for a little more you can have something that lasts your whole life and you know that you're the original owner.

And Adorama is great to order from. If you see your color and fretboard, get it. My $0.02.

Looks like the sale is over.
The player series is great! I have a player and a player plus. Both are great playing guitars. The Plus is better in my opinion but again both are great.

Squire or "Classic Vibe" strats don't even have the name "Fender" prominent on the headstock because they are generally worth $75 at a yard sale. They are not an investment and they are for a very particular .. type .. of person. And that's the end of that conversation right there. It's sheer economics and numbers don't lie. There is no opposing opinion because it's numbers and numbers are not opinions.
The post was doing pretty good right up until this last bit of silliness. The part about the player strat being an investment, Mexi strats being pretty good, etc. was all true up until the part when you said "Classic Vibe strats were worth $75 at a yard sale". It kind of throws everything else you said into question. I've owned USA strats, MIM strats, and a couple Squiers too, and the two Classic Vibes I owned were at least as good as (if not better than) my mexican strats.

Anyways, looks like the deal is dead now, they're all showing $849 for me. One day I might grab one of these Adorama deals just to use the neck for a project. Great price, hope some of you picked one up!
