As a Team Red fan (while owning an Ego mower and hedge trimmer), I would be all over this deal especially with a 8.0 batt. I bought each of these separately....

Bough this weedeater and blower with a 9.0mah battery back in 2018 for $299+tax . Blower does consumes battery fast, weedeater working like a champ. Both blower and weater havent have any issues at all.

What is the functional difference between trimmer and edger? Isn't the edger just the trimmer on the side? Some trimmers come with a wheel to allow it to roll like an edger instead of 2 tools, or as an extra attachment accessory.

The trimmer is a multitasker while the edger is a specialized unitasker. I think the edger is absolutely the tool to use for large areas and commercial needs for its speed, accuracy, and consistency, but the trimmer should be a totally viable tool for at home use with enough practice and/or additional attachments if that's an option (having a wheel attachment does help speed things up and saves strength from hovering).

Can't return just the blower, it's not a separate SKU / line item. Also it comes in the same box as the string trimmer.

What Greyout said above, but also the edger is a metal bladed tool, and will actually dig into the dirt. This produces a noticeably different (at least, to me) edge effect than a string trimmer does.

If you are running your edger against a concrete sidewalk or driveway, it also throws impressive sparks if you run into the concrete. :-)

The trimmer uses string for trimming where the mower can't cut. The edger uses a metal blade to "edge" driveways and sidewalks.
