These Celerons have been superceded by the Intel N95 and N100 which are about 25% faster and don't cost much more. Look up the Beelink S12 as one example. Also, it's better to buy from Amazon because of their easy returns.

This machine is about equivalent of a 12 year old machine. The cpu rating is 4000, I would pick up a used machine with a rating of 15000.

It is replaceable. Just be sure to get the correct length and key. I have this and a few other mini PCs, and there were some odd SSDs in some. I don't recall which this has.

The biggest surprise to me was that these come with Windows 11 Pro. That alone costs as much as the entire device, so I have to question the legality.
OEM licenses are dirt cheap. MS couldn't care less if 1 PC ran windows or not. But if you can put tens of thousands (or more) Windows systems into the market that can affect numbers.

I recommend spending a few dollars more and getting an N100 model. The Bee Link N100 16gb/500gb model is $177 on AE, and about 25% more performant.

You can do a couple transcodes with this. I'm not sure why you're indicating that you can't.

So yeah, you're right. It should be able to handle a couple.

Is the cpu on this better than say a i5-8400T?

Because those dell SFF refurbished machines are abiut the same size and price.
No. 8400T is slightly less than 2x more powerful, uses roughly 2x more power, more than 2x the physical size.

I much prefer the N5105 based units, which sell for the same prices as the N5095 units.

24 gpu execution units vs 16. Makes a huge difference handling 4k video.

Also, this is FAR slower than an m1 mac mini. Not even close.

It's a pretty good quad core, the architecture isn't that old.

Are you talking about shopping on E*y? I found it hard to cut through all the riff raff on the site, although sorting helps. Any other sites you might recommend for used?

I'm curious about the 15,000 benchmark as low-mid level from 5-6 years back. My work laptop has a 10th gen Xeon chip and scores around 13,000. Perhaps 15,000 was a desktop CPU? Still, 4000 doesn't seem that fast. My 9.5 year old personal computer scored 5500 in 2013.

how can you listen to something at 2x speed?
You actually can for example this video on youtube for AWS CCP Exam

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SOTamWNgDKc

This is the best example I can find as this training I watched at 1.75 speed but if I was reviewing these topics again, I'd definitely do 2X after listening to it for 5:30 at 2X.

I'll generally go 1.5 - 1.75 speed on things like these training videos for certificate exams to get a quick detailed overview while I'm working.

I wouldnt say 2x larger. They are thinner. I would go with the dell then. Thanks.

3d performance is not a factor for me

You don't buy this because you want the fastest computer, you buy it because it's small, low power, and still perfectly capable. If you want something faster for the same price and you don't care about the size or power usage then a used Dell Optiplex would be much better.
