If that is your concern the if25 is not the light for you. To be clear, that is only an issue if you try to use them at max brightness or close to max brightness. This big light is much better at dissipating the heat than the if25

I have this light and like it a lot. It is very bright and not too big. That being said, I am pining to upgrade soon to the Sofirn Q8 Pro which is even brighter but more expensive.

This is a very good deal.

Best hobbiest lights? Huh? I've owned this for over 2 years now and it's okay, but it's way to big to be very practical. I much prefer their IF25a.

But with that said, this is a great price for it. Maybe lowest ever?

I read a lot of the more powerful Sofirn lights are very, very bright but only for a few seconds. They quickly become too hot so the brightness decreases. I'll wait for the if25 which seems to be a good balance of brightness and size.

Mostly, I 2nd this as I have both. It's very bright, but the IF25a is also and way yonder more practical. Good price, almost as cheap as perhaps 2 years ago when I bought mine. Repped.

Thanks for the recommendation. I ended up getting the Q8 Plus instead of this deal. After making an account, there was a 10% off code that brought it down to $83 and change shipped with 3x 2170 batteries.

I have this light in 4000k. It's excellent. The brighter versions aren't very usable since they get hot much quicker and throttle down.

Great for photography instead of a flash to light subjects. Great to light up whole room bouncing off ceiling. Also, a good coyote deterrent when taking your pup to the bathroom late at night. Very versatile.

I have to admit... after lighting up whole room for a long while, I'll water cool the body carefully avoiding the charging port to get the batteries to room temperature and prolong life. only issue ive had with it, is the rubber charging port cover breaking off.

If you are a light nerd, this thing rocks for the output and value category.

I own many sizes including IF25a, SP36, 36Pro and Q8 Pro....

IF25a is by far the most practical light, I carry 2 of them and they cover all the situations (including using them together when you need more light)

SP36, 36Pro and Q8 Pro are excellent lights, but I kinda regret buying them, they always sit in a drawer. They get hot quickly, they are heavy, and I mostly don't need that much light anyway.
Unless you're a light collector, hard to find a practical use case for them vs a pair of tiny IF25a.

I would strongly recommend IF25a if the price is right.

P.S. iPad is not better than iPhone in most situations, even though it's bigger. And those big lights are too heavy and slow for being a good powerbank as well.

One obvious pro of the larger lights is greater battery capacity. When throwing on a diffuser to act as a lantern, they will provide more light and run longer.

That's all high output lights especially FET driven. If you're pumping out 4000lm and pulling 20 amps it's going to get hot. This light has active thermal management meaning it knows the temp and adjusts down and up. That's rare especially in well know/expensive brands.

I really feel like these LED lights have gotten way out of hand. a single 18650 is more than enough light for me and the size is perfect.

Question on the batteries. Does anyone know if the battery on this is the self regulating charge kind? I heard that some of the cheaper bright lights don't have the feature on the battery which is a hazard. should I be worried if it doesn't?
