Yes, it's a real shame that the Switch, a small tablet that came out in 2017, is not on par with a modern gaming PC.

With 125 million Switches and 1 billion games sold, it certainly does not sound like a problem for Nintendo or for people who enjoy their games. It mostly sounds like a "problem" for snooty gamers.

more like I object to large companies throwing around their weight and money to manipulate the legal system to punish people and fans even when those people being punished are 100% acting in the legal right.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on right to repair while we're at it.

Totally fine paying for games and console. I just want to be able to mod/use cheats so I don't have to spend my remaining life grinding. Grind is never ever ok.

Reviews came out today though, and any misgivings I had are thoroughly resolved. Overwhelmingly great.

True, I've been playing my old console games on pc emulators and they perform so much better, and you can make them look as good as modern remakes my bumping up the resolution, fps and post processing like FSR.

It's just the price, people don't want to pay $70 for it. The game is fine, people just trying to fight inflation. Now that many places are selling for $60 it will be a huge success. GameStop said they have plenty of copies available, I asked if price was an issue, manager said yes, but they have a good trade in offer that can get you $50 off the game. I applaud Costco and retailers for keeping costs down. We have to say enough, and stop companies from raising prices anymore.

No, the opposite. The fact that Costco is selling this in store makes me think this game will be massive, selling 30m+ units easily.

I agree - I think there is a real chance that this might become the fastest-selling game of all time at release.

To put it into perspective: I bought a second Switch, so that I could still play BOTW while my kids are playing TOTK; if TOTK is as good as BOTW then I will be picking up a second physical copy of that too, so that I can play it or so that there is less fighting amongst the kids to play it. When you have people buying more of your *consoles* and multiple copies of the *game*, you have a hit even by modern standards.

Nintendo figured out something profound about gaming: you don't *have* to have the most powerful hardware, if you can enable gaming in a new and profound way and make beautiful games within the restrictions of the hardware as it is. The Switch does that enabling, by being *portable* - I now have an Xbox One that I almost never use, and a Switch that mostly only goes in the dock for charging purposes or multiplayer Smash Bros.

It's very hard to justify more than one Xbox or PS5 per household, but pretty easy to imagine one Switch per family member.
