So, I will conclude that for ppl like me, do not buy this ... for one thing, most likely you will buy and forget it.
second, even if you buy it and do not charge it, the battery will be dead most likely no matter whether you use it or not.

I always attach my pencil to my iPad, so battery is not an issue. But I found it is so useless that I only used it 2-3 times in the past year, including one testing

iPad AppleCare covers accessories and I have gotten a keyboard and pen swapped before for free, but it looks like it might be at a different tier now as their website now shows that $30 fee is the price with AppleCare https://www.apple.com/support/products/ipad/
