I owned an Apple pen 2nd gen. got from Costco and used it maybe 10 times. A year later when I found it in the dust and tried to charge it, then figured out the battery is already dead.

So, I will conclude that for ppl like me, do not buy this ... for one thing, most likely you will buy and forget it.
second, even if you buy it and do not charge it, the battery will be dead most likely no matter whether you use it or not.

Pencil has a non-replaceable battery. I'd be a cautious about buying a used one. Even if the original owner didn't use it much the battery is going to loose charging power. If these were just returns this would be a good deal but looks like they were actually owned and sold by the original owner eventually ending up in this resellers possession.

I always attach my pencil to my iPad, so battery is not an issue. But I found it is so useless that I only used it 2-3 times in the past year, including one testing Smilie

iPad AppleCare covers accessories and I have gotten a keyboard and pen swapped before for free, but it looks like it might be at a different tier now as their website now shows that $30 fee is the price with AppleCare https://www.apple.com/support/products/ipad/

Yeah, be aware of buying used apple pencil. I bought 2 apple pencils and both lithium battery died. Based on Apple Info, they expect apple pencil to be always charged and leaving it empty battery for long time could cause some damage. I would definitely buy new only for these pencils.
