You can put it in the microwave for 30 seconds to a minute. It will soften a bit. Also bring out the flavor. You can also boil it for a few minutes to soften.

"Cheese blocks and cheese bones, including yak cheese treats, can be much too hard for regular chewing and can lead to broken teeth for an unfortunate dog. In my own test, the Ecokind Yak Cheese Chews did not pass the "thumbnail test" (a good chew should be soft enough that it will give if you press it with your thumbnail)."

Any chew that last longer than basically 5 min can cause teeth damage. It's not a secret or anything.

I do both. Submerge in water. Microwave for 5-6 minutes. Remove, put on plate and microwave for 90 seconds. They puff up into a crunchy long lasting treat that is easier on their teeth
My 70 lb dog (German shep/greyhound mix) loves these, and finishes a large off in about 40 minutes. She brings me the tiny chunk that remains and has me microwave it into a cheese puff, and finishes the rest after it has cooled.
About 10 percent of the time, she vomits a foamy mess, 95% of the the during the night, around 3 AM, as she dashes for the back door.
I'm going to hold off for a lower price based on the cons. Every dog is different! They are her favorite for sure.
Yeah, my 1 year old golden rips through them. They still last about a week, sometimes 2 so it's worth it for me. If you have a smaller dog, I'd be more cautious.

The last time this deal was posted, there were a lot of negative comments about this product causing dogs to vomit...well, yes it will...just like any new food introduced into a dog's diet. Without control of how much your dog ingests of a new food item, they will puke it back up.
As a dog owner you need to watch and control your dog's intake of any treat item. Once their digestive track gets used to it, they can have more each time without adverse effects.
So build up the tolerance and it's a good treat to give them.
My Pitbull loves these and if she chooses will eat an entire stick, then puke it up the next day, if we let her.
The whole "nail test" for hardness can be good for some dogs, but heavy chewers would devour a treat in a couple of minutes using that testing method. Our dog has finished a pork bone in 6 minutes as we left the room for a little bit to change clothes not thinking she could eat it that fast...guess what...she puked up bone chunks later that day. So watch your dog and be vigilant about how much treats they're given.
Awesome deal! I have an English Mastiff mix and a Malamute mix and they love these, probably go through a bag of the extra large per month. As stated above, know what your dog's pedigree/breed capabilities are and when in doubt be safe. Note that these cheese treats soften a lot from dog saliva once they start licking and chewing.
