I received my 6a from Metro and can confirm that it won't work with TMobile sim out of the box. I've tested with my T-Mobile sim card and couldn't get services.

I would eat the additional net $10 to avoid all that crap and get a new number. No AF, $20 cheaper plan. Authorized dealers are 90% scammers.

So I have both A54 and S21FE. I just played with both more today and must say, if not considering battery, s21FE is just better in almost every aspect. Thinner bazels, more responsive fingerprint sensor, better/juicer colors and viewing angles, better camera, mega super-duper stereo speakers (A54 also has good ones but s21 has better ones). I had Pixel7 and honestly, I hated the screen. Had terrible headaches just from staring at P7, so I assume with P6a it would be the same (if not worse). Therefore, if you have extra $50 and want some decent camera and overall smooth experience go with s21fe, but if battery really meters go with a54. However, if you just want the cheapest option and like making photos, go with P6a. Just my 2 cents

I have another Pixel 6a (purchased unlocked off Amazon) that's activated on a TMO Business line with an eSIM... will that work for this experiment?
No, unfortunately, that would not work. You would need to get a physical SIM card with T-Mobile service on it, that you could put in this MetroPCS Pixel 6a and see if it would work with the T-Mobile SIM card.

Thank you very much, for the reply, though. I sincerely appreciate the gesture.

No. Your 6a from Amazon is unlocked, so it'll accept SIMs from all US carriers. The Metro 6a is locked to Metro (a subsidiary of T-mo) for 6 months and BillyJack wanted to know if it would work out of the box with T-mo, or still needs to be unlocked first.
Yes, that is exactly what I'm wondering. Thank you, for replying and clarifying that. I do appreciate their response and offer to try to help, though.

Hopefully, someone, who actually has a physical T-Mobile SIM card, can test it out, in one of these MetroPCS Pixel 6a devices. Because I would really like to buy one, to give to my daughter, if it will work with it a T-Mobile SIM card, right out of the box.

None of these phones online at the great deal prices! The Pixel 6a is minimum 89.99 plus tax with required $40 minimum unlimited plan. Tax is charged on full retail price of handset prior to any discounts. So out the door looking around $115 give or take minimum. That's no longer a "hot deal" in any sense of the word. Also the A54 and the S21 are not available "free" either. The only way to get the "free" handsets is to go in to a physical Metro store and they are a nightmare...forget it.
I was only charged tax on the $49.99 which was $4.37 (8 3/4%) and the $40 charge for the promo for a total of $94.36. You couldn't buy this phone outright for much shorter than 3 times that amount.

Received my phone today. I'm attempting to activate my phone but the "Activate" button on the order status page is greyed out. Anybody encounter this issue, maybe I just need to wait it out?

Did you get to that page by clicking on the ACTIVATE SERVICE in the email titled "Ready. Set. Activate"?
Did you enter both the Order Number and your zip code?

Seems they are running behind. For my case, 'Order shipped' email came in 2 hours after my Pixel 6a arrived this afternoon. The 'ready set activate' email has not arrived.

Let's assume 6a works with T-Mobile out of the box, do you know if first activation with T-Mobile instead of Metro will mess Metro's unlocking?

Yes, and yes. Hopefully it resolves itself in a day or two, otherwise I'll need to contact them.

Excuse me, it suppose tomorrow will arrive the pixel 6 to my house but, what is the process to unlock the cellphone after 180 days? Do I need to call to Metro pcs or automatically getting unlock or has an app to request unlock?

How does the community wiki get updated? I just received a Metro OnePlus N200 with IMEI starting with xx0018 and it worked fine with my TMO sim. I did activate it first, switched sims, and then did all the android updates

These Nords and some others have always worked out of the box on TMo. But this thread is about the Pixel.

After it is unlocked, will it work well with Verizon? Does it have all the bands except mmwave? What's the actual model number that they send?
