It seems that this is a single hose system. Beware that if you are using it in a house where a gas hot water heater is also running, you are at risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.
Usually when you run your AC in the heat of summer, you close all the windows to preserve the cold air inside. And if the portable AC only discharges hot air outside, then there is pressure imbalance between outside and inside. The outside air will find anyway possible to get inside. If the house is sealed well with only the gas exhause pipe wide open, then the gas exhause will be pushed back inside. This is when your CO alarm should sound off. If you don't have one or you ignore the battery replacement, you will get seriously sick.
To mitigate this, you should buy a dual piple system or leave one of your basement windows open and keep the door to the basement open too. None the less, it is stil a risk for operators who are not aware of the danger.

The hose is the exhaust, but that exhaust air has to come from somewhere. It's coming from the room and creating negative pressure in the room, which will cause the room to pull air from outside the room, which warms the room back up eventually

Wouldn't the hose be an exhaust?

Thanks- I needed a basic one for our popup camper this summer. Opted for the 10000 BTU. Saved on shipping and tax vs anything local at the big box stores.

How well does a single hose work in a camper? I need an a/c but assumed single hose wouldn't work because it's drawing all the makeup air from outside

Yeah, if you are pulling in hot air from outside to cool it vs. pulling in already partially cooled air from inside....kinda silly.

The hose is an exhaust. Look at the "comes with an instruction manual" pictograph.

I'm curious about these single hoses. Do they work better if you crack a window for the air to get sucked in and used by the unit itself?

I don't have one from this brand, but I have one similar. We use it in our camper, and it's able to cool it down on 100+ degree days. We keep ours next to the sink since it drains there, and there is a window close by. I like the exhaust hose to be as short as possible since it gets warm, and I don't want the extra eat from it.

This is interesting. So, what would be your recommended solution besides getting a permanent AC system?

Window unit ones if you have a window that can fit one. If that doesn't work, get a dual hose and insulate the hoses. The second hose will be the intake for the heat to dump into and out the exhuast hose.

Lots of single versus double hose talk in every portable air conditioner post.

I just got a cheap single hose off Facebook for the same purpose. In a test in my upstairs bedroom it had no issues cooling it down quickly.

For a polyp, make sure to add the reflective insulation and pop up gizmos to the bunk ends (or diy with a space blanket)

I have a single host Costway 8000btu unit; it works well for my master bed room around 240sqf in 100+ degree weather in North California. I would probably upgrade to 10000btu if my current unit die.

what's the best dual hose deal around? - single hose is kind of a joke, you are heating up the air that you just spent all of that money to cool down - very inefficient
