I own the 16" 2019 i9 and that's exactly my reason I'm not already driving to Costco to pick this up.
Yeah, I'm leaning towards keeping the 16" M1 Max simply because I got a killer deal, and when it's stationary on my lap the extra real estate is definitely nice and it feels grounded and centered on my legs and isn't too bulky in that 90 degree sitting position.

But when I want to lay back on the sofa, or in bed, or even just move it around the house casually, I'm instantly reminded how much more portable and light-weight the 14" is. People make jokes about how the 16" is only a pound or so heavier, but it's all relative, so percentage-wise it's a good amount larger and bulkier, and I think the form factor/weight distribution/shape of it makes it SEEM heavier than just a pound difference. I can easily move the 14" with one hand, but with the 16" it almost feels like it could crack the screen through the top of the lid by gripping it like this, and it takes two hands to comfortably move it around.

I just worry I'll end up keeping it docked most of the time to my external monitor which sort of defeats the purpose of the larger screen. But I'm sitting here on my sofa right now typing this and man, it really is gorgeous. Stick Out Tongue

you cared enough to reply lol. This is not that slick, wait like 6 months and others will be selling theirs at better cost

M2 is worthwhile if you drive an 8k or need to. You have to sit at eye distance for it to really be impactful.

Bought this exact model for my wife back in November 2021 for $2299+tax. It's a great laptop, and I would also be driving to Costco right now if it weren't for it's big size (I've been eyeing up a 14"). She's trying to tell me that the screen size + awesome speakers are worth the bigger size, and that it's not _that_ big... but I have a maxed out one for work and it is fairly huge ... decisions ....

I'm thinking I should go snag one and leave it unopened until I see if there's a 14" deal in the next month or so, and also see what Apple announces for WWDC/MacBook Air 15"....

I used the chat again earlier and got a price adjustment. It was a one-time exception since it had been over 30 days but that's ok. Didn't wanna drive all over town in the rain.

I'm almost regretting buying the 14" pro instead of the air due its weight. When it comes to laptops, a pound is alot and you will feel it.
