Oh, and appliances, too, but they're not worth mentioning since they're so unreliable.

Indeed the deal for S23 ultra today may be better comparing to upcoming monday.

Samsung gives Galaxy Buds2 for $9.99 right now, and S22 ultra trade in value is $700, also 12% cash back from some cb website today. Next monday, the Buds2 is replaced with $50 credit, and most likely the 12% cash back will be gone as well and S22 ultra trade in will stay at $700 I believe. Buds2 can easily sell on local for over $80 and that $50 credit is basically useless.
Today Early access still has the Buds2 for $9.99 and 22 Ultra trade in is $750.

Total with Education Offer is $598.49

*update* adding buds removed elevated trade value and essential cuts trade value in half...

We need Best Buy to run the show and do some real trade-in deals for the Samsung S23 family finally. This has been mediocre at best since launch. We need some from last year to reappear, as in trade in S22 and leave with S23 kinda deals.

You still can't prove it wasn't damaged during shipment, that's a fight you wont win with Samsung.
If that does happen, and you have photos/videos of the device being in good condition during packaging, then they should credit you manually and take that up with FedEx as an insurance claim.

In theory, if you package your trade-in devices well, this shouldn't be an issue. If you packaged it like crap and it arrived broken, then maybe they would make a note that packaging was inadequate and the device broke as a result, but I don't know if that's their procedure.

They do record the entire trade in evaluation, so I could see that happening.

It's also important to drop off trade ins at an actual FedEx branch and make sure they weigh the package before printing your receipt. Don't use one of those random 3rd party drop-off spots.

One of my trade-ins got lost once and it took all of 5 minutes to resolve via chat. The rep referenced that the weight of the package was accurate for the device being traded in and manually issued the full amount. It also helps if a FedEx employee decides to steal your device. You'll have proof you didn't send an empty box and they'll know it was emptied somewhere along the way.

And trade in values don't look much better than usual

^^^ This. BEFORE trade-in price. What you see now for trade-in prices over the last few weeks is going to be the max they will offer. Maybe $50 more and/or discounted Buds. Usually six months after release is the firt real deal you will find on a flagship Galaxy S.

I've had the last few gens of Folds and am also on a ZF4 now. I've been desperate to swap back to a slab phone, specifically the S23 Ultra, but the deals have been such garbage. Even with a mind ZF4 trade, I'm still generally looking at paying $500+. I need something better than that to make me bite.
Going back to slab? EEK! What don't you like about the folding phone? I was thinking about a ZF4.
