Absolute drivel, and likely ill-intentioned misinformation. Even the 8GB model is more than enough for lots more than "web browsing and basic office work"; this 16GB is good enough for the large majority of power users.

Great deal! For those of us who prefer to "bring their own storage," the 16GB/256GB would have been better (assuming the price would have been proportionately lower), but at this price it's fine and allows you to use it right away w/o needing to worry about an external storage solution right away.

I'm typing this on my $500 base M2 purchased from Costco last month (currently hooked up to two 27" 1440 displays). I'm a looong time PC user (the last time I touched a mac was in the 90's). The learning curve to MacOS was a bit rough, but I'm slowly getting used to the new OS. It's hard to believe so much power is packed into such a small (and cheap) package.

This thing will stream 4k (2x speed) YouTube without a single stutter. It is silent, despite the active cooling.

I'm almost surely going to pick up a second unit during Costco's sale. I'll probably have one unit permanently tied to my TV (for YouTube, Steam, CloneHero, Chrome, etc). And another in my office. For my office computer, I'm tempted to upgrade to the "Pro" model, but I'm likely deluding myself that I need the extra power relative to the $500 base.

Laptops run into issues 4 years down the line due to bad battery and dusty fans and apple makes it impossible to replace without a headache. These desktops are solid and will easily last 7-8 years before it's no longer supported.
I have a few Apple laptops kicking around far older. Not all were used alot. All are perfect. Zero issues. Zero. And I am mostly windows although I am starting to reconsider at work testing a M2 Air 16GB vs my I7 loaded with memory that seems far slower in the tasks I do which are not that complex. Apple laptops last FAR longer than most Windows laptops. I take no sides since for the past 25+ years I have been 99% Windows based. Look how many fully operational laptops on ebay that are more than 3-4 yrs old.

Are you sure that's the case? The model number is the exact same on both sites (MNH73LL/A). I think the Costco description is just stock description that says 'Gigabit or 10Gb Ethernet'. That's because the Mac mini can be configured to 10Gb Ethernet (albeit only via Apple). The Amazon description also says configurable to 10Gb Ethernet.

I do not think the models are any different between Costco or Amazon. Apple has only a few stock pre-built models they sell via third-parties.
I can't say for certain, but Costco's site mentions the 10gbe specifically. The 'gigabit or 10gbe' part implys (to me anyway) the nic is capable of both.

Amazon specifically mentions it as an upgrade. (Which you can't do if you're buying from Amazon, there no alternative listing).

Im going to Costco tomorrow to check it out... But I suggest anyone going today or who has bought it already give us a definite answer by looking at the system report

I have a 2007 and 2-2009 MacBook pros, 2-2010 MacBooks, 3 various age minis from 2006-2011, 5 xserve RAID units from 2006, a 2008 Xserve server, 2 2008 Mac pros that all still boot up and work fine.

But I've built a dozen or more hackintoshes since 2009 and never really went back. They're overpriced, but solid

When Apple doubles the specs they double the price with it. Insane. No wonder their sales are down. Great machines but damn.

Why the fuq would you buy 2 of these things?? That's ridiculous as hell to me. Why not switch it up with a good windows pc for variety or if you really absolutely need 2 of these Why not buy the pro model or even better, wait for the next edition which surely is gonna be faster and better

Doing a lot of what? Would like to know which app or apps you were using to see if it would apply to me. Thanks
I'll be streaming, using about 5-10 tabs of chrome and running some light photo editors.

TBH I'm thinking about the same, bought similiar speced mini pc with a 13700H that was more expensive then $500 and it uses about 20-30w more on each level. At 7-15w, it's really one heck of a system.

I know Costco offers a 90-day return policy and a 2nd-year warranty, however, this is also the same price on Amazon. If purchasing with the Amazon Prime credit card, it also comes with a 2nd year of warranty and 5% cashback instead of 4% cashback if using the Costco Citi card at Costco. I definitely want this computer, would it make sense to purchase this through Amazon? Or is there something else I am missing between the two options?

You support a company that treats it's employees like human beings or you support amazon.

Tell me what else other than office apps can it do? Everyone I've read doing more had to return and upgrade.
