Yeah but, 1 year ago it was $200 with a few short drops to $150 here and there. Although it may only be a recent sale of $12 off, it has dropped nearly $100 in a matter of months.
Will it go lower? Maybe, but many manufacturers are already reducing their production to drive the prices back up. There's no guarantee that prices will continue to drop. That said there is also no guarantee that prices will increase either.
This is a historically good price for this drive.

Don't buy it. Wait for it to go lower! If no one buys, they will lower the price even more to make more sales.
We're only saving $12 from this "sale" according to its regular price. $80-90 would be a better deal.

It was at that inflated price 1 year ago because of the chip shortage and consumer demand. Gen 3 is old tech, the price should be much lower. Maybe the summer may hold better prices.

It's a good price for this drive because it is now an old gen3 model. Some of that stuff would hold some weight if it was still the latest thing but it no longer is.
That said, I'm sure it'll fluctuate up or down a few bucks, but doubt it will get significantly cheaper. Even cheap low end 2TB are sitting around $85-100, and I doubt you'll see a performance model like this undercutting those, even if it is an outgoing model.

I remember looking at 2.5" SSDs pre-2019, and 500GB would set you back about $100-$120. I didn't even look at 1TB because they were out of my price range. NVMes were out then as well, so 2.5" SATA was already old tech.
2.5" SSDs have plummeted since then, and it looks like this drive has followed that pattern too.
Now, I haven't followed NVMe news too closely because my laptop doesn't support them, but isn't this still a highly desired NVMe for laptops because of its higher efficiency when compared to other Gen 3 and 4 NVMes? Especially, since real world performance doesn't show a noticable difference in speed between Gen 3 and Gen 4.
Looking at these factors, I would argue that this drive is priced at a discount and not a "back to normal" price. Again, it may go a bit lower, but I personally expect to see it increase as more tech companies follow Apple's and Intel's lead in reduced manufacturing.
