There were 17 in West Ashley SC @ 389. I picked one up yesterday, right up front by the appliances on the left of the first aisle. T.U, this will be perfect for the garage this summer. Just need to find a way to vent this through a wall and out the siding without reducing the storage in the area.
Would I be able to tie this into the gas water heater vent, since that already exits the side of the building? The water heater vent hose is metal. TIA!
Sure if you want to kill yourself with CO poisoning. This hose sucks and exhausts the air. The exhaust from your water heater has CO/ CO2 and other stuff. This AC is not internally airtight. You will enjoy a painless death.
Seriously, don't do that.

How difficult is it to install this?

Quote from jwcalla :
If you don't need the portability, a window unit is always going to be better. Especially over a single-hose. Generally speaking, for a portable air conditioner, the water is often sucked up and drizzled over the condenser, causing some of it to evaporate and get blown out of the hose. However, if it's very humid, this process can't keep up and you'll have to empty the tank (or attach a drain hose).
Wait. Doesn't the hose connect to the window for exhaust outside?

It's a good thing Costco has a generous return policy

I just installed the HIsense one 3 days ago. Am I a bad person if I bag it up and return it to buy this Danby one? I have all the packaging. Uh-Oh... 🥴

You know what? It is Costco's fault. They should pick 1 good model and bring it in for the season. Selling in non-inverter Hisense and then this Danby one after less than 15 days is bad planning on their side. What were they thinking?
This one will go for the refurbished cycle.

Buyer's remorse and all that has been on the tab and we've bren paying for it. Box it and return it like your niece co-founded Costco.

Definitely the Danby for the inverter aspect alone - way more efficient and a lower electric bill.

I thought Hisense website lists inverter technology too. I ended up with Danby for the higher output and IMO the 2-in-1 hose looks cleaner than 2 separate hoses.

Edit: is this different than the Costco one? https://www.hisense-usa.com/air-p...ortable-ac

Right, however, I'm asking if the window kit for this unit will fit a window that slides left to right and is 58" in length (up and down).

The Hisense model at Costco states that it can fit windows of 50", but people have reported that the supplied window kit can actually go up to 60"+.

According to what I could find on this Danby, the unit's window kit can go up to 54", but I was wondering if that's understated (like the Hisense) and see if anyone has installed this Danby model in larger space (like the size of a sliding glass patio door).
In same boat. I had returned one in the past from different brand because their window kit was much shorter for my 58" window. Please confirm this will fit 58" window without purchase anything else.

After a few min of research I found out the window kit will only fit up to 54". So this will not work with my 58" high sliding window. If anyone can confirm this would be great. Thank you.

The unit comes with 3 panels for the window. My window height is 51" and I only needed to use 2 of the 3 panels. It should definitely work for you.

Mine is 61" and it fits just fine. There's still room to extend.

I have this. Rock solid unit. Heavy, easy drainage (lots of water) just use a raised platform and dump into a bucket. Cools like the arctic. I need it cold to sleep. The central m air just doesn't do anything below 74 at best. This unit gets me to 62 (and down to 59 on a test I did) with ease in a big master suite. Also, the sound it makes works perfectly as white noise / sound buffering from outside. Highly recommend

I was looking for the Hisense last week and only saw the Danby in a warehouse.

Good call by Costco giving its members the best value.
I just called my store and they said that there will be 50+ of the Hisense model and 4 of the Danby physically in the store tomorrow, Saturday.

If you're looking for the Hisense model, I'd call your nearest Costco and snag one before the $80 promotional discount ends on the 21st.

Summer hasn't begun yet so I think that's why it hasn't gone down as much. I'm hoping better deals will come sooner rather than later since consumer spending has been going down.
With $100 off, the unit is $390 in store, so it is CHEAPER than in 2021.

What do you like about the midea?
I think they operate the same. Same BTU. Same Inverter tech.

I like the Danby aesthetics better.

I would be careful installing something like this in the same area as a gas hot water heater (CO poisoning). The older tech one-hose units created a vacuum which made them inefficient. These dual hose ones are better, but I have not heard that they do not create a small vacuum. If a vacuum occurs, it will suck air from the water heater exhaust pipe back into your area.
