Seems like it only heats up one side at a time. Then you have to flip to heat the other side. Not sure about this one...

Could buy 7qt gourmia fro.mCostco for similar price and buy a silicon waffle insert separately as an alternative

Just buy a Belgian waffle maker you can get one for like $15 and no need to flip anything and just so much easier.
