Unnecessarily and painfully slow, buggy, piece of junk, based on decades-old shaky software infrastructure, but they unfortunately have a virtual monopoly on feature-rich personal finance software. Good price for the necessary turd.
Just bought Deluxe yesterday from Best Buy for the $36 price. This is a better deal! Every year I think I should use some other software but keep buying this after comparing options. I miss Microsoft Money!

Very true comment. If you are updating your Quicken license to automatically download transactions and securities prices, be aware that the update transactions feature has become too unreliable to use. It no longer reports errors when interacting with financial institutions. It can only report express web connect or direct connect transaction's but not both. Not sure why but this has been an issue since quicken introduced EWC service.

Yeah... We are kinda stuck with it. There are only a couple institutions I have to manually update, but I guess it's not that bad. I leave it running on one of home servers and only remote in log in a couple times a week.
the software is not that bad. the mobile app works decently well for viewing on the fly. It really helps when you have multiple accounts and a crazy way to disperse your money. still not using all the power it has just yet. just don't have the time to set it all up like I want. just changed our spending and investing plan.

Necessary evil. My subscription is up in a month, so I bought two. Unless something has changed in their system, I won't be able to activate them both, so will hold onto the second for a year. As far as I know, they won't let you stack, or add on to a subscription, until it has less than 6 months left.

Piece of junk cannot even create new accounts. Just a junk software. Stay away. The support is completely incompetent. They suggest guess items, like get a new computer and try again. WTF?

Remember the days when this use to be the cost of the software, period? Not some stupid subscription?

How the times have changed.

I was actually thinking of purchasing this but with so many negative comments I am now rethinking it. Can someone recommend a better alternative?

Problems connecting to an account, worked with support and they could see it on their end but it still would not connect properly. I wish they would fix it.

If you use a Mac, you should absolutely buy this. Also, as far as the subscription goes, Quicken has to pay money to the financial institutions to allow you to download transactions, not to mention server costs, so subscription is the only way.

I used to use Microsoft money, transferred to quicken and thought it was way inferior. Any Windows alternative to this?
