For a dad riding with 5&7 yr old kids, would this be a good fit or go more cruiser/leisure?

You talked about the Rockhopper being a great deal at $580 plus tax but you don't want to talk about how Specialized downgraded from Shimano to Microshift and Tektro to Radius brakes. You like to talk about the components but I guess it doesn't make sense to mention the less than impressive Rockhopper specs (basic model). You want people to buy from their local Specialized store for them to help me upsell an overpriced bike ($580-1200 bike) and adjust my seat height. Nothing wrong with being a Specialized owner or fanboy but try to be unbias and consider value and bang for the buck. I watched YouTube reviews on that Specialized Rockhopper and I wasn't impressed as you were. I don't see bang for the buck value. I don't see the components matching with what Specialized is asking for.

"Please buy from or your local independent Specialized dealer.....".

It makes sense why you bash other way cheaper bikes in the other threads and talk about how great of a deal the specialized Rockhopper is at $580 plus tax and you want people to buy from local specialized stores. Don't forget that people pay through the nose though for those premium flagship brands. Purchase price matters.
Rather than talk about the lies from the manufacturer about this bike's drivetrain, just keep misquoting and misrepresenting what I said in some old thread. Good distraction technique.

If anyone cares, here's the thread he's talking about in which I said that it was "a great deal for a bike with full dealer support (bike selection and sizing help, test rides, professional assembly, ongoing maintenance, warranty, etc)" and suggested to buy it through a local dealer rather than online because it helps the local business.

I came across this hybrid bike and it kind of surprised me with its components and the sale price. For a $210 hybrid bike to have Tektro mechanical disc brakes, 24 speed Shimano Altus drivetrain (internally routed) and an 80mm adjustable suspension fork seems to be a pretty good deal.

Another option for people who may not want a hybrid and want do more gravel riding is the Giordano Trieste Gravel Bike for $299.99 ($499.99).
A lot of trails in my area are gravel or pavement... but the gravel bike you mentioned looks more like a road bike and doesn't seem comfortable specifically for someone with back issues.
Thoughts?

Is it coincidence that this appeared immediately after the Giordano pizza deal from Costco on my 'For you' deals? 😂

You can ride the Giordano Brava hybrid comfortably on gravel and road. I ride on gravel with my hybrid bike and I actually have thinner tires than this Giordano. Hybrid has more comfortable upright position. The Brava also has 40mm wide tire and 80mm suspension fork so that should make it more comfortable. If you are going for speed and real long distance trip on gravel, I can see the going with a gravel bike but especially for a person with back issues, I think a hybrid bike is more suited for most people.

Amateur question here
It's a suspension fork. Does it lock? Are there free returns if you're not satisfied. The site says you can return within 10 days for free but does that include the shipping cost?

This thread is enough of a dumpster fire that I can't blame you for being confused.
No kidding, seems like all the bike threads lately get threadcrapped by the same few people arguing about component-related minutiae that 90% of people shopping bikes in this price range couldn't care less about. We get it bros, the $400 bike marked down to $200 doesn't have components as good as the ones from [insert $1500 bike here], move along and stop polluting the got damn threads.

These are made by Kent that makes several of the Walmart brands, but I do think their Giordano brand is a bit better than most of those.

These come with 8 speed cassettes on the rear wheel. This may not mean much to you, but bikers know that this is a cassette and not a freewheel. Which usually means better, upgradable parts.

I bought the gravel bike. I like steel bikes and the parts are decent. It says it comes with Shimano Claris but some are shipping with Microshift R8 which I'm OK with.

I usually buy more expensive mountain bikes but I wanted a cheap gravel bike to put some miles on. The frame looks solid and everything else looks upgradable if needed. I think the hybrid bikes look decent as well and for this price I don't think it's a bad deal. It was free shipping and no tax for me so hard to argue with that.

Here's a good YouTube video from a guy who bought the gravel bike.

I'm assuming the price increase for the Giordano H1 road bike at $360 compared to the Brava at $210 is not worth it?
